Ha! The satoshi's long gone, I found that with the mesh I used combined with the 20" lightbar, my trans temp would easily skyrocket especially on hill climbs. Not enough air circulation in there.
Matter of fact, all the internals/ribs of the grill are all gone now and it's hardly noticeable with that bar covering out front. I also installed some air horns in place of our puny stock ones and the satoshi grill just got in the way, so all the better.:whoo:

blcktpgsr! I love the LED DRLs...That is one of those "devil in the details" mods that really highlight the truck! The chopped ARB, the lightbar, the winch, and the front DRLs really highlight the front end. I smiled when those first few pics of the entire front end came into view, reminded me again why I love these trucks and how easy of a platform they are to build up, but still so very solid and capable if you leave them stock as well.
I'm a big fan of a mostly stock look, but even I would spring for a DRL mod like that! I wish I had your fab skills and smarts (that's a really neat idea to angle the LEDs like that!).
Keep it up! Sick pictures, love all the Toys by the lake! Got any more of the other rigs as well? I miss seeing some good 4Runner trucks, haven't been on here as much lately!

I love these LED's. they're something, more importantly, they are now used as DRL and that's part of being safe on the road.
I'll try and rummage thru my computer and look for some more photos of them BA rigs.

First of all, let me just say, your build quality and detail is what I aspire to achieve! You've done some things different than I would and you've done some things that are just plain crazy (like the upside-down roll bar roof sub... I mean what?!?!). Yet, every single thing you do is so well thought out and meticulously planned, you settle for nothing but perfection, and that commands so much respect.
Every time I see your build surface back up, I click it instantly, and then have that feeling of guilt when you see something awesome that you know you want but know can't have... It's terrible but at the same time I can't get enough of what your doing here. Your rig has been my computer background for about as long as I've been on T4R.
Anyway, for once you've done something that, I think, a broke high school kid with a little know how and some play money can accomplish in those DRL's. I'm certainly going to try replicating them in the (hopefully near) future.

Glad some of the mods I did appealed to you and in some ways gave you enjoyment. Lol. the LED mod is quite simple, just some minor welding involved, but pretty straightforward once you get working on it.

Went out wheeling with two of my buddies on a rainy afternoon, We've done this trail number of times taking on different lines each time...and everytime was a challenge. Got all my gears and tools packed up like i do whenever we go. Got on the trail head and aired down to 12PSI, I knew we were facing some challenges ahead since the trail has now become slippery and slick due to streaming waters coming down along our path.
Long story, i broke my passenger CV on the trail and as result, having had to replace it just to keep going. Minute 1:37 into the video and you'll hear a pop. As I tried climbing up, with the tires partially turned towards the driver's side and passenger tire off the ground ever slightly from bouncing, the joint binds up from the droop and as it hits the ground at full weight while spinning, that's when i went in trouble.
I didn't wanna believe it so i just kept on trying..lol
It looks like the sun was out on this photo, but it's a downpour that day that we needed tarp over us, Bustin' out the nuts with the impact.
Oh yah, we made sure it was perfectly safe before I went under there to undo the shaft from the diff. Also had work light to go with the flashlight, too.:becky:
Taking the front skid and putting it back up was the bigger inconvenience more than anything. Big shout out to my buddies Billy & Allan for the helping hands when things go sour.
Where the aftermath occurred...
Carrying on with the new half shaft put on.....

This obstacle has never been tried before. It's really intimidating..One would think twice!!
....and on video, I may update this later with a different view from Billy's go- pro.
And the way back. momentarily riding on the driver slider.

That was the highlight of my Saturday, Once home, i inspected the broken CV joint further and to no surprise, well well, the components of the outer joint was nowhere to be found. The cage and the bearing balls must've fallen off and got washed away, leaving me with just the broken race and ripped boot.

Let's see how long the replacement CV lasts first then we'll assess it from there. It's also non OEM so i know it's inferior by comparison.(knock on wood)
......Those axles by Lotus Development are on my list, believe me......it's still a very long list!:nod:

It's a tough crowd and they've seen it all. I'm just enjoying the truck for what I built it for and from time to time, try and come up with something animating to the imagination, something different...One's gotta try coz like you insinuated....it's abit stagnant 'round here nowadays.
But I do, do appreciate the support that you continually give, Nick!
Wow, these makes the Lotus Development cv's look really affordable. I'd need some sponsorship to afford those at the moment.:clap2:

You're sharp, Sir! That's about it, though- new hoop, cleaned up the front end..........ya know? nothin' exciting. It's your fault, you and your nice bumper!:naughty:
I'll try and post up some pics of that development.
The 20" lightbar is already spoken for, sold for $150. The Rigid Industries dually...i'll keep for now..might have a place for those in the future.
The 30" Rigid up on the roof provides adequate illumination for me during some night adventures, and so i'll stick with that for now.
