You need to turn the heater on so that ALL the coolant circulates.
Heres a pic of the T valve I put in. Fill right through it if needed.

The name of the Tool is called "Air lift Coolant Tool", the brand name is Air Lift II part # 550500 and it sells for around $100.00 and without you will not be able to remove trapped air, how to use this tool is you first start be draining your coolant system install the tool in place of the radiator cap hook up to shop air and suck all the air out of the coolant system you will notice all the hoses will collapse form the vacume then you shut off the valve for the shop air then the tool has a long clear hose that you will place in a 5gl bucket of fresh mixed coolant now you can move the valve on the tool to suck the coolant into the coolant system now at this point you can then start your vehicle top off and your done all the air has been removed and your good to go like I said earlier without this tool you will never remove trapped air, Thats why this tool was invented.

No idea on the size. Was just one we had lying around. You could pull one of the ends off and measure the ID

thanks. i couldnt wait so i used a really steep driveway. pop the cap open. started the truck and let it bleed it self. so far i dont have any idle issues like i did before.
no need for the tool when you can just do what hyde did and install a T tap with a cap to let air out.
