I assert that jammers are illegal in most states -but you really need to block your license plate number before you broadcast on the internet that you have one installed in your vehicle.

:headslap: :p

Hahaha funny about the licence plate thing I used to live in VA and am planning on moving back and even radar detectors are illegal there so I know this is. Just don't do like this lady I knew of there who when she got pulled over said "Office I couldn't have been speeding the red light wasn't flashing" DUH! :bash:

P.S. nice install looks very clean

I am currently in ohio where they are legal, i will not be using them in virginia ;)

Also, laser jammers are illegal in roughly 5 states
radar jammers = illegal in the united states
and radar detectors are only illegal in VA / DC

I cannot begin to tell you how much I envy you. I was looking at that a few days ago. The wife said no. just drive slower and you dont have to worry about getting a ticket. I mumbled something to the affect of but irwinSR5 has one and she then sent me to my room.

great install by the way. ;):

Radar and laser jammers are illegal in Illinois. (625 ILCS 5/12‑613) Officers are empowered to seize the offending device!

I'm with trickynick's wife on this one - what's wrong with driving safely? Everybody is in WAY too big of a hurry these days. That seems to be another side effect of the "me" generation - heck with everyone else on the road. Defensive driving and common courtesy are dead.

Awesome, looks good!!! I would love to get one of those. I have been pulled over 4 times this year. Got out of all of the tickets, but I would love to have one so the person that

They work to a point and in independent testing found them to work about 50% of the time so there's no guarantee you won't get a ticket so the best defense is still to slow down if you detect a laser or radar signal. Cops also aim the lasers at other parts than the plates since they are more aware of these laser diffusers or sprays that can aslo diffue lasers. My friend is a CHP and he said they are trained to aim at other parts of cars.

actually if you look at the independent testing done (with video proof) on www.radardetector.net they work almost all the time, the only limiting factor is whether or not the front of your car is too big. I realize they target more then the plate, each transponder on the jammer covers a 18" radius around itself so it will protect most of the head light as well, i should have enough time to slow down before they get a punch through. I assure you though, they work far more then 50% of the time

What we really need are missiles that target police radar. A shame they have nothing better to do then eat donuts and harass drivers. If the speed limits were written to todays better quality cars and tires, we wouldn't need to speed. 55 MPH I don't think so. It is like crawling and I don't have all day. The roads that are posted 65, should be at least 85 during the day in good weather.
Our speed limits are old fashioned and need to be revised. Just like out of date traffic lights, that turn red on you when nobody is there but you. I look, see nothing for miles and go, why sit there like a fool? I have only been in one accident since I got my license. Cop said ice prevented him from stopping and hit my back end at a red light. Strange the road was not slick just wet, that donut he was stuffing in his mouth took all his attention from driving I guess.

Alot of our open highways are 75 and that's reasonable since most drivers do 85 anyway and that's enough considering how inaatentive alot of drivers are and the abundance of oversize SUVs that are on the roads with those bad drivers. Nobody needs to go over 90 in a 5000lb vehicle with so-so handling.
I don't have problems with posted limits since here in Colorado they are appropriate for the areas and we also have laws that punish people for hindering the flow of traffic in fast lanes even if the fast lane is doing 85 in a 75.

Also remember the police don't set the speed limits they are just doing their jobs by enforcing them unfortuanlty there are bad cops but not many. I've been pulled over for speeding 27 times and walked away with 14 tickets over 13 years so my odds haven't been bad.

Huh?! Since when are radar detectors illegal in Illinois? Ive known alot of people who got pulled over for speeding and said prove it, lol among a stupid thing to say but they got out of the ticket. Plus alot of people have radar detectors.

radar detectors are only illegal in virginia and washington dc, laser jammers may however be illegal in IL

That is a HUGE problem here in VA....and with most other states along the East Coast of the US. Even though it is a law here that slower traffic must keep to the right on multi-lane roads, it is never enforced.

Get rid of the left-lane bandits, enforce laws requring the use of directional signals and our roads will become so much safer that we won't need so much ridiculous speed enforcement.

Yes indeed, I came here from San Diego where 85 is the slow lane. Here there are slow drivers in every lane all the time! Need to get back to SD.......
