BlingLights Fog Lights - Anyone tried them?

I want to get some fog lights for my truck, but it didn't come with them stock. I see the harness is already ready to plug in, however. I was thinking of picking these up off ebay:

Says it comes with everything you need, and provides a 'HID-like' output, with super white, H3 halogen bulbs. These would match the Sylvania Silverstars I have in the headlights I'm thinking.

Just wondering if anyone has tried them, or had any experience with BlingLights products before.

I haven't used them, but for that price it's hard to ignore if you need fogs for your factory 99-02 bumper.

A few things I noted:

I noticed they say 6k light color. I think it looks ricer personally. I have auxiliary led fogs and spot lights that are 6k color, but are dedicated offroad/ rural road supplemental lights that triggered to my high beams. They work well for that. I would not want this color light if it came on with my low beam lights or especially in fog. Although 5k color is the whitest and brightest, anything above 4300k will create more glare in actual fog, so these are not ideal for that. 3000k is actually best for heavy fog. One of the customer reviews on them the guy said they were great in fog and I thought that was pretty comical.

I also didn't see anything saying they were DOT approved, meaning when that cop sees those 6k lights that draw attention and pulls you over, you better hope they're DOT approved. Some cities might have cops who enforce this more than others, but living in SoCal they definitely don't seem to care as much with all the blue or purple lights I see on the road.

It also says they mimic HID's and since they don't have a horizontal cutoff (like projectors or 99+ factory fogs), I sure hope they don't have the glare of a drop in HID because that's the impression I'm getting.


That being said, if you're willing to buy them and throw in a better kelvin bulb like Silver Stars/ Piaa/ Hella etc, I say go for it.

That's a good idea. I think I'll ask for them for Christmas, and try 'em out. I'll post up how they do.

I bought a set of these and then I returned them.

They are nice lights, and will probably do a good job, but they do not come with what I consider sufficient mounting hardware. They are slightly larger then the stock cut outs and if you've ever seen the stock fogs for a late model 3rd gen 4Runner, the mounting system is crazy, it ends up mounting in 3 spots to ensure a secure mount. The provided mount is no where near able to mount anywhere that will secure the light into place and provide good output through the stock foglight cut outs.

If you have the time/means to fab something up, this will work out really good for you. If not, I highly suggest searching for an OEM set up. I was able to get my fogs for 55 bucks, and another 20 got me the OEM headlight switch with the fog switch on it. it was all plug and play and installation was around an hour.

I recommend OEM, but if you can fab, then these will work for you.

I actually posted a WTB ad in the WTB section of the classifieds. I got lucky though and someone had a set. I would keep your eye on the General T4R for sale for a part out of a Limited and post a WTB ad. Something will turn up eventually.

It is well worth it, IMO.
