Blinking Battery light? and is this car worth it?

im looking at a 1996 toyota 4 runner with 140k on it. The guy wants 3200 its a 5 speed with 4wd its in really good condition actually do you guys think its worth it? also the battery light flashes at idle do you think its the alternator is a fuse or ground or something more serious? the posting website is below if you want to see the add

Blinking battery light usually means your alt is going, as the battery is dropping under the required voltage.

Could be a toasted battery, either way, not a huge deal but def a bargaining chip to bring down the price.

Any rust or records?

It's probably worth what he's asking if it's rust free and the timing belt and WP are documented. But, you know he's not asking what he'll take so negotiate with him. Get it for a quarter and you got a great buy.

I really fear that the price may actually be too good to be true. The miles might also fit into this same category.

Rust is evident on both front fenders with some bubbled paint particularly on the passenger side. The pass. Wheel shows substantial rust also. The fact that the condition of the wheels doesn't seem uniform troubles me. Possible flood victim? The price indicates that the seller Knows something.

I'd look real long and hard and determine how much you want to invest after the purchase.

I paid $4,000 for a 2WD...Zero rust and timing belt service documented. :hiding:

The add says new tires, new wp, and timing belts. Seems like a good deal to me especially if you get it even cheaper, it looks a lil dinged up.

I don't see the evident rust you're seeing. If it is rusted I'd stay away from it. If it's rust free, buy it. And actually, if you pass, let me know. I might go after it.

Missed the timing belt, but then I also thought it said sunroof... the "sliding window" is probably OK too. My tablet can't increase the resolution beyond the original photo, I know, but it can zoom pretty well and it appears to show rust on the driver fender and what appears to be bubbled paint on the passenger side.

I'm not against the car or the price / purchase of same. I just think it warrants further investigation; At least a closer look. Anyways, that's all I can see from here.
