Bliteins + OME Help

Mine its a V6 and no future plans for winch or extra weight. Am looking for a 3/2 lift from new shocks and coils, not from spacers. What I had in mind are the 5100 set at 2.5" in the front, Superflex coils in the back 2" lift, but am confuse as to what springs to put on the front that will give me the extra 1/2". I dont know anything about how shocks and springs work together to get the desire lift, in this case 3". Will the 884's (1" lift) do the trick? or better off 885's (2" lift)

Other mods: Spidetracks + BFG AT 265/70R17 maybe larger.

what about fj coils ? they will give the 1/2 - 1 in. you want up front & should work well with the superflwx out back.

+1. If you want omes, I think they make a 883 that's a little shorter for less lift, although I don't know anyone using them. You can use 884s with a top plate spacer for a full 3"lift, you'd set the shocks on the stock setting.

That's my confusion, setting the shocks to 0" stock height, I thought 884 only gave a 1" lift, how am I getting close to 3" like that? I would rather stay away from spacers , only to fix driver side lean.

To me it would make more sense to buy the 885 (2" lift) with Blisteins set at 1.85". And Superflex on the back (2" lift). Correct me if am wrong but wouldn't that gave me the very close 3" am looking up front.

ome 883's give 1 & 1/2 lift, 884's give 2. Front OME Lift Coils - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits 885's give 2 but may be a little too firm if not used with the additional weight of aftermarket bumper. also bilstein doesnt recommend using the 5100 with any coils that provide lift unless set on lowest setting. http://www.toyteclifts.com/index.ph...tegory_id=109&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=72 if you use the 5100 set at 2.5 with fj coils that should put you at about 3in. up front, which shouldnt stress the shock out like a lifting coil, thats why i suggested them.

Ok, I definitely think those numbers are off, even for a v8. My guess is the 884 and a 1/4" spacer would get you to 3", but I'd suggest confirming that with someone who's had the setup.

most of my knowledge on exact numbers comes from ARK and he's been fantastic as ive pieced together my lift.

i would head to fjcruiserforums.com and poke around in the free section for fj front coils (see my thread via STAYGOLD). lots of guys were willing to help me out pretty quick.

fj front coils (1/2")+bilstein 5100's @ (1.85")+toytec top plate (1/4")= ~3"
(+- 1/2") would probably be the most budget conscious route and still very effective. i know you said no spacers, but a 1/4" is not nearly as bad as a full 3" spacer and they're top plate.

fwiw i asked/posted around for about 2 weeks and ended up with fj front coils, superflex rear coils, ome rear shocks, front 5100's, rear airbags and lower link protectors (package deal for toytec, bags and protectors) for a total cost of about $400 shipped to my door. it will give me my desired 3/2 lift without spacer junk and the burden of $$$ coilovers and i still got essentially brand new shocks and coils all the way around with some added goodies.

post on toyota120 and fjcruiser as many of the suspension components are interchangeable.

p.s. the guy i bought my rear coils etc. from also had 895 rear coils for sale but i passed on them due to the harshness of the ride. i can give you his info on 120 if you're interested but decided the toytecs were the better route for me.

yeah I'm running 886's and 896's front and rear with ome 60004 shocks I believe I may be wrong on the shock number but I put the setup on with intension of weight addition I'm pretty sure I could have front rear steel bumpers 5 passengers and full recovery /camping gear and still have a semi rough ride lol 318lbs/in spring rate on the rear of these trucks is just a little much haha but I'm sitting at about 3.5" rear lift 3" front lift and removing the front sway bar seems to have let the front coils settle another 1/2" so im still carrying the 1" rake I def like the height and look but I'm looking into softer coils still plan to add more armor and weight but I don't think I need these heavy ass coils lol

I've been running this exact same setup since last year. The only "slight" difference would be that I have a 2006. See my initial install thread HERE. Also, check my gallery for more pictures. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Short Answer- Yes, the 265s will stay for now.

Long Answer - No, I definitely want to bump back up as soon as possible. Honestly, I really miss my 285s...I hate how thin my current 265s look in comparison. However, I really don't want to add spidertrax for various reasons (OCD of having to constantly check the torque, trimming, negligible increased joint wear, etc). I may risk the inner UCA rub and try to run a set of 285/70s with factory offset just to test it out. I found a set of Duratracs for $40 local that seem to be perfect candidates. I realize the Duratracs are among the least likely 285s to fit, but they're just too cheap to pass up :biggrin2:

I tried pulling my spacers on the front because I'm rubbing pretty bad. I couldn't even come close to getting the tire on, much less tightened down. Even with aftermarket ucas, still tons of rubbing.

That said, motorsport tech offers 3/4" spacers which will reduce or eliminate most of your concerns. I've done some measuring and they should fit. I really considered these but decided I liked the 1.25" spacers more so I'm just gonna start cutting.

Well...I can't say i'm that suprised. However, I recall Magert (can't remember the exact username) running them for a little while before adding wheel spacers. I believe he said there was definately some rubbing but nothing that made it undrivable...and certainly not to the point the wheel/tire wouldn't bolt back up. Could it be that there is a minute difference b/w the body styles?

In regards to a less aggressive 285 AT fitment, there was another user in the Lift&Tire thread that was running 285/70 Toyo AT on factory SE rims with no spacer. Again, no major rubbing and only required a slight change in turning habits for daily driving.

EDIT: Actually, this user had an 03-05 T4R so the answer to my above question about the difference seems to be NO.

The more I think about it, and possibly the "older" I get (Ha...27), I feel less and less like doing anything perminant to the truck just for looks...especially cutting. It just don't seem worth it to me anymore. However, if I could figure out a way to run them without spacers and/or trimming, I would be all over it.

Your truck looks great BTW! The 1.25" spacers definately look better to me too. However, If I ever decide to run spacers, the .75" would be perfect.

If your not opposed to an aftermarket rim. I found that a 4.25 back spaced 8inch wide rim = factory rim with 3/4" spacer. I'm using this setup to run 305/70's. I had to put the 1/4" spacer you see in my signature up front to get the rim to clear the front calipers. i did have to shave with a sanding will a small amount of material off the face of the caliper as well. Also i had to restud the front end with longer studs to accomidate the 1/4" spacer. the cool thing is my D-windows are right up against my calipers so if i took the time to paint the calipers they'd really pop lol.
