Blitzsafe vs PIE

The fixed PIE aux input adapter looks like it is delayed till late March/April according to logjam. I am getting impatient and want to get an aux adapter in my vehicle, so I am investigating the tradeoffs between the blitzsafe and pie. Is there anyone who has used both that can clue me in? I hear the blitzsafe has a really low output level and can cause you to have to turn the volume up high. Is this really a problem? Thanks

Do you just want AUX inputs or do you need an interface for something like an iPod?

Mine arrived in the mail this week, just haven't had a chance to install it yet. Somebody over at TundraSolutions.com is using it and it seems to work fine. No problems like the PIE system was having.

Peds, that's the one I was going to recommend. I used it for my OmniFi installation and am very happy with it. I really like that it just plugs into the CD changer port and does not need a separate power source. Crutchfield carries it for about the same price:

Are you sure it works with our T4Rs with JBL system?

when i put it in, i chose 2k4, toyota, sports edition, jbl without navigation, without changer

and it says it works.

I am concerned about the review post on crutchfield that states the audio level is low and requires setting volume all the way up to 50 to get reasonable sound. This appears to be a strength of the PIE and a weakness of the blitzsafe and usaspec.

Copper, I don't have the JBL system, just the standard HU, and it works well.

As for the low audio level, I guess it depends on what each person considers "reasonable". Outkast at 50 is just loud enough, whereas Diana Krall at 50 is way too much. I listen to both at around 35-40 and feel like I have enough headroom.

What I did was basically the same, except I selected 4Runner LE with JBL audio system; without Navigation system; with in-dash CD changer. I think with the in-dash CD changer, they consider the CD changer port is already used.
