Hi,
I have a 2007 4Runner, 4 litre, V6 and want to install the block heater myself (I've done minor engine/tune-up work before - so I don't expect it to be too difficult).
I went to the local dealer and bought the part (P/N: PU140-00900) - about $85. This is a Canadian part number - I live in Ottawa, ON.
The parts guy said that the hole is already built into the engine and that I don;t have to manually "punch-out" any holes (and have the coolant drain out all over the place). He told me that it fits nicely in a compartment and heats up the enclosure (ie. the air) and does NOT come in "direct" contact with the coolant. It's supposed to heat the coolant through a metal surface area/enclosure - and so it's not in "direct contact" with it.
Can anyone comment on this info above? Because I've called a 2nd dealer and it seems that another Part Number C0140-00889 is needed for my SUV!!
And my second question - if the part number I have is correct (ie. PU140-00900) - where is the location of the hole/compartment that I need to install it?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
