Well had a problem blowing the 10 amp Dome fuse again and again. Dome lights out, clock resets to 1:00, remote entry want work, and trip odomiter resets back to 0 . Sometimes the fuse would go a few days and then sometimes a few weeks without blowing. For no apparent reason it just kept blowing that fuse. After several trips to Toyota Dealer thinking they had fix my car bam the fuse would blow again. Finally blew a fuse and each time i tried to replace it would blow again. Finally yes found the problem, it was my driver side visor, when you move the visor into the down position it would blow the fuse. There is a problem with the wire inside the visor that after time the wire can rub raw and short out against the metal rod that supports the visor. So if you are having these issues check your visors this is where my problem was, since replacing the visor no more blown fuses. Electrical problem solved.

I know this thread is an old one, but I've recently encountered this same issue.
About 5 months ago I replaced all the interior lights with LED lights. They worked great except for the Visor (Vanity) light. The fuse would blow with the LED light in there. So I left those lights and everything else worked perfectly! (Side note, LED dome lights, puddle lights, running board lights and license plate lights look awesome).
Back on track.....over the week the 10 amp fuse for the dome lights has been blowing repeatedly! Sometimes after a couple of hours, sometimes a day or two. My first suspect is the Vanity light or Visor.
I just wanted to know what you guys did exactly to fix this? 04rnr said you removed the visor?
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Have had my 2004 4Runner for a week now and noticed this same fuse was blown. Went through 3 fuses and they blew immediately. Read your suggestion about the driver side visor, so I unscrewed and detached the whole thing. With it off, I then replaced the fuse to see if it would work, and wouldn't ya know it, all the interior lights and running board lights came on. Thanks for the suggestion on where to begin the hunt.

Hi guys. I know this is kind of an old thread but I'm having the same issue. Fuse blows right away. I took out the driver side sun visor and it still blew. That was the only spare fuse I had. I subsequently took the passenger side visor and tested both on the bench by supplying power and they both function properly. The light comes on when I slide the cover. Wiring looks intact.
I ordered a 25-pack of 10A fuses that arrives tomorrow so I can do more testing.
Could it be the running board lights? I can test by disconnecting them.
Any other common cause for this?

The common cause is a short in the circuit.. Also, just because you pulled the visors off and tested that the work on a bench doesn't necessarily mean there isn't a short when the visor is in the closed position. However, with the amount of wire paths there are in this circuit I would start looking elsewhere.
Just as a note of advise, don't do what was suggested 2 posts up and install a larger fuse. lol
Thanks. Definitely will not put a higher Amp fuse. It's rated at 10A for a reason.
I will test with both visors out and see what happens. Hopefully it won't be a major pain to track down. Luckily the fuse is for things I can live without for a while and doesn't affect the drivability of the truck.
