Bluetooth contacts-updates?

I have searched and havent been able to find any recent info on the subject of transfering contacs to truck. I have a Motorola Atrix which runs on the Android system and am unable to transfer my contacts over. I have an SR5 without Nav. I wasnt able to do it with my last phone either which was a Sony Ericsson. Anyone have any advice, how-to's or advice?

i'm pretty sure the stock radio doesn't support BT phone book file transfer protocol

That's weird because it gives you the option in the setup menu. It asks you if you want to transfer contacts b
y bt or phone.

I have an iPhone and have the same problem. I can save "spoken" names and numbers, but the system always shows the number and "no name".

So I think I may have figured this out for Android. I have a Droid X and I was able to get my contacts transferred over one at a time. Now the name and number show up on the screen when someone calls. I have a 2011 SR5 without the nav.

Once you go through the bluetooth system: phonebook --> Add Entry --> By phone, you go to your phone and long press on a contact and select share name card. Now you have to deselect everything but the phone number ie facebook link, email addresss, alt. phone numbers. Then share via bluetooth, then say confirm on the cars system and then click on the cars bluetooth (Car Multi-Media for me). Once its sent is should pop up on the screen and have you confirm it. You have to do this with every contact, if you try multiple contacts it will only sync the first.

Hopefully this will help some people. I am not sure how it works with the iphone so I cant say. But emsmatt this should work with your atrix since we both have Motorola UI's running froyo.

This is the same with all Toyota headunits for the newer models. Anyone know what the contact limit is on ours? My RAV4 was only like 20 or so :gun5:

iPhone bluetooth contacts transfer works perfectly on the Nav w/JBL system. so do BT hands-free phone and BT audio streaming (simultaneously: audio stops for phone call and automatically resumes when you hang up.)

I need to attempt this again. Itried the above instructions for Android with no success. I got frustrated enough that I had to take a time out which has now lasted a few months. It just seems so strange that it is so difficult to do.

Dude, I feel your pain, and it doesn't help that whenever we start on this subject someone with the nav system constantly chimes in on how it works fine for them. I bought mine last week, I have been reading all sorts of posts, I have an iphone which is blocked from BT transfers. What I ended up doing was to use an old phone that I have, I transferred 20 contacts to it from my pc and then paired that phone with the toyota stereo. I had to transfer them one by one. It is a PITA and I am not sure how the Toyota stereo handles multiple phone numbers for a contact, but it works. If you are using an android phone with a sim card, you could transfer the entries you want to the sim card, then put that sim card in another phone, and then use that phone to edit and transfer to the Toyota stereo, good luck.

I've heard a rumor that you can send vcards from your laptop. What it involves is pairing and setting up your iphone to the car like normal and when the car asks for you to send contact info you send from the laptop instead. I will try this tonight. YMMV.

Edit: I tried this today and couldn't get it to work. I could get my laptop to link to the radio as an audio device but got an error when sending a vcard. The error was "buffer full" or something. Too hot in my garage to spend more time on it.

I believe you will find this requires a jailbroken iPhone and an app that allows a pass through connection via bluetooth.
