I have a brand new 2013 SR5 with non-NAV radio and I'm having trouble with my Bluetooth. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I've searched the forums several times and found plenty of threads but none of the solutions are working for me.
Here's what the problem comes down to: I usually keep bluetooth on my phone off until I want to use it for battery and security reasons. If I get in my truck with bluetooth turned off on my phone, it usually won't connect no matter what I do. The only thing that seems to work is to turn off the ignition and wait (sometimes for several minutes) and then turn the truck on again with bluetooth already turned on on my phone. I've tried all the other tricks like turning bluetooth on my phone off and then on again a few seconds later, turning airplane mode off and on, rebooting my phone completely, turning off the radio from the knob, and none of those work. I've deleted the truck from my bluetooth settings and deleted my phone from the truck's bluetooth settings and set everything up again and the problem still persists. I'm not sure if it matters or not but I am making sure to pair my device as a phone and not an audio player, although I have tried both ways 3+ times each to see if it made a difference.
The only solution I see right now is to keep my phones bluetooth on all the time or try to remember to turn it on before I start my truck but I'm hoping those aren't the only solution. I've never had a bluetooth issue like this. I have a bluetooth radio at home that I use for an hour or two every day and I had a bluetooth radio in my last vehicle and neither of those ever had issues like this. I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the truck's radio since rebooting the phone doesn't solve it but restarting the truck does.
Also, last night I had another issue that I haven't had before. My phone appeared connected but the radio kept flashing "Pause". I would hit play on my phone and on the radio and the song would play for a second or two and then cut out again. Tried all of the above solutions and none of them worked. I couldn't leave my truck off for too long last night so it never worked. It wasn't until the truck had been off overnight that it started to work again. But that's the only time that's happened so hopefully I won't see that issue again.
I'm starting to think I need to look into an aftermarket stereo but I wanted to see if any of you all had figured out a solution to this. Thanks!
