Just a FYI for those of you that are causing your own, and passenger, hearing loss. Short term exposure of 150DB causes permanent damage, sustained exposure to 95dB can result in hearing loss.

The loudest recommended exposure with hearing protection is 140dB. Sustained exposure to 95dB can result in hearing loss.

And I was hitting over 150 decibels..

Good luck with your hearing. Just an FYI, I work on and around the most insanely loud internal combustion engines in existence. I never expose myself to them without hearing protection.

As far as how much it will cost to fix? Well, you need to ask a competent body shop that question.

the permanent way of fix is the body shop to replace the whole quater panel. i say let it be and have the subs back in, i have 2 15s and i dont care about the crack no more, it came from 2 12s jl audio w3v2 on jl 500/1. i work in a noisy enviorment, airplanes comin in and out and im only 30 feet or so from a running engine.777 757, md10 md11, airbus a300 a310
also play you system loud with the tailgate window half down, thats how you get notice.

Because screw other people, they definitely want to hear your crappy loud music shoved in their ears so loud it makes their rectum's bleed. I mean, most states and cities have noise control laws, but psssstt, Heck with those! If it's too loud, your too old, right? You can replace the quarter panel, they section it in. I would ask about welding it or using fiberglass/ bondo mix to fix it. Either way its going to be expensive.

its funny you say this, you ask for advice and i tell you what a body shop will do, if you dont want to hear a first hand experience about the problem, then you dont need my advice. if you are to worry about the crack, get another vehicle.

Depending on how the panel is sold, they either have to cut the section of the vehicle out and then stitch weld the replacement panel in and/or they have find the spot welds, drill them out, and then cut the rest of the panel out. I've seen it done on some Priuses that have come to our shop after the body shop has replaced rear quarter panels and wants us to reinstall the guts.

Chances are though you might be able to clean and stitch weld that crack up vs. replacing the entire panel. It will come down to how the body shop decides to do the repair.

Curious if you ever got this fixed and what the cost was? I bought a 2011 4R that has a crack in the side panel near the gas tank, most likely from shotty body work in the past, which was missed when buying the vehicle (bought it out of province).
