Body Lift if you already have an aftermarket bumper not built for it?

Its time I buy an aftermarket bumper. I noted many have an option to fab it to your body lift when you buy it. Right now I have a suspension lift, no body lift.

I'm running 32" tires and at some point may want to go bigger, which means a body lift enters the possibility.

If I buy a bumper thats made for no body lift and then decide to get one later, what does that mean? Do I just get an awkward gap between the top of the bumper and the vehicle? Or would it not fit anymore for some reason?

Any thoughts/advice? What do you guys think about body lifts in general? I would go 1" if any btw.

Yes you will have a very ugly 1" gap between the bumper and body. I would highly suggest you just do the body lift now and get the bumper after, otherwise the only option is to get a new bumper or re-fabricate it yourself

The stock rear bumper attaches to the body, so it isn't affected by a body lift, but an aftermarket rear will attach to the frame and would leave a gap. Both stock and aftermarket front bumpers attach to the frame and would leave a gap.

So I agree with the above approach, a body life is relatively easy* and cheap, do that before (or with) the bumpers, and get the bumpers made to suit the body lift.

* I was on course for a quick and easy install on mine other than one single body mount bolt - the driver side front mount. Hard to get to, and utterly frozen into place with rust. I spent way more time on that one single bolt than I did the entire rest of the body lift install.
