Body lift install

How difficult is a body lift install on a 2g automatic 4x4? Is the 2inch easier than the 3inch to install? Any specific tools needed other than a general mechanics set?

I think Bucknut has a BL for the engine clearance, not sure how many of you guys also have it.

Edit: I already have a 4inch suspension lift.

Are you putting in a bigger engine or needing to make room for something else? If not, there is no real reason to do it, especially if you already have a 4" suspension lift. General consensus is that you don't want to go there unless you have to.
 
Yeah, I have a 350 waiting to be dropped in, and also a set of 36inch tires. I can clear 35s now, but not 36s.

I have a ton of leaks and **** with my engine, and my brother put an LS2 in his Silverado and gave me the engine/tranny and a few other parts. So hopefully by spring I'll have it rolling.

Sweet, now we will have another abomination in the family. LOL! I would talk directly to Bob. I believe with a 3" there are a few odd adjustments to make, but I will let the experts chime in. 2" I believe is fairly straight forward.
 
I have a 2" BL on both my 83 to make more room for the Buick 3.8/TH-350 swap, and on my 84 so I could raise the fuel tank and entire drive line up to get an almost flat under belly.
Another use of a BL is to accomadate larger tires.

There is a bit more work to installing a 3" lift.

Problems with BL's is BS (unless maybe it's poorly built or poorly installed), I have absolutely no adverse effects from using a BL, and I beat the crap out of my rigs.
Most of the naysayers are going on hearsay and not experience.

What he said. Don't buy a cheap kit with small diameter lift pucks. You will put more stress on your body mounts. Roger's stuff is great. I put a 1" BL in mine for a few clearance issues (bolt-on slider brackets and triple stick linkage).


I believe a 2" is simple and a 3" has a few issues. Your transmission linkage, steering shaft, brake lines and possibly the fuel tank filler and body-to-frame electrical connections may be affected.
