Body mount help...

Hey guys I'm new to the forum, just traded my Tacoma in for a 2006 sport 4runner. Waiting something with a bigger engine and more comfortable. I have installed 5100s in the front, rough country fj coils in the rear, waiting on 5100s in th e rear. . I have 3 lift in the front and 3.5 in the back (From what i was told) i I found a guy that was selling toyo m/t for 300 new so I jumped on them. The problem is, I though they were 285/70r17. But there are 295/70r17. I believe they 33.4. I just bought a set of fuels that aren't too flashy, with the right back spacing for 285s. Will I need to do a body chop? Or is there a way to get around it?:confused:

Most likely, yes. You'll need the body mount chop. In addition you'll need to trim the front bumper, move the fender liner forward, remove at least the front mud flaps and then do some trimming to the rear of the front fender.

Unless you want to just start hacking away I'd get everything installed and then start testing. cut a bit, test a bit, cut a bit etc. And who knows, if it's going to be a street queen then you may not need a body mount chop. That only comes into play when you really start flexing the suspension.

Good luck and post up pics when you've got it set up so other folks can see what it took to run the 295s.
 
I would bet that you would at least have to do a body mount chop. Depending on the offset of your wheels you might have to trim more so that you dont rub the fender or pinch weld at full stuff. It is definately worth the trouble but too invasive for some. You will never really know how much until you mount them up and flex it out to see where you will rub.

Welcome to T4R Pat,

I'm running Toyo Open Country M/T's, 295/70/17 on Method Wheels, 17x8.5, 4.75 BS, 0 offset. Yes, you'll have to chop the body mount, ditch the mud flaps and either cut or move the front fender liner. BTW, that's a great deal on those tires! :thumb:

Thanks yall, I'm going to getting the rims in this up coming week. Gonna to take the 4runner to my buddy's shop and chop that mount, before the install. I'll post some pics after the install. Could I still run a 1.25 body lift after I chop that mount? I would I could, I'd rather make before I start cutting my frame up ha. Thanks for the advice yall

I don't see why you couldn't. I am running the 1.5" and chopped mine. I don't feel that the mount is too weak at all.
