bogs sometimes, and sounds like its missing?

i have a 1992 t4r 4x4 with a 22re. I baught the 4runner and about 2 weeks late the head gasket went, i replaced the gasket and got a head kit put in by a pro (valve seals and etc...) i then put the head back on, i also replaced the timing chain and gears at the same time, also replaced the spark plugs, wires, and cap and rotor. It went not to bad, not very powerfull, alot less than what i was expecting but hey a a 4cylinder but i find it drinks quiet a bit of gas, can only get about 300km on one tank. Lately its been bogging quiet a bit on some days, its like you never know when its going to do this, and it idles like crap when it is, sounds like its missing and what not. I don't think it can be anything to serious otherwise it be running like this all the time, it just does it by random, other days it runs like champ. I changed the gas filter today thinking maybe it was cloged but didn't seem that bad, i am also running right now without a catalyst converter. WHen it is bogging its quiet weird though, cause once you hit 3000-3500rpm, it cateches again and rides as normal. Do any of you guys have any idea what could be causing this?

gas filter didn't fix it, but it gave it a bit more power hehe, caught 5mph more than what i could before lol. still anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this problem?

common!, their has to be someone who's encounterd a similar problem to this? Ive read on the internet that the 22re's are popular for having a similar bog like this, they only take off at 3000-3500 rpm.

If I remember from some of my research on another problem, this may be a vacuum problem.. Check your vacuum lines, and make sure they are all hooked up, and in the right place.

ok ill check that out thanks!, do these 22re's have EGR valvges, i have herd they may cause this problems when they go bad, could it be a posibility?
