Hello!
Happy 4th of July everyone!
New to the forum and new to 3rd gen 4Runners as well. I used to have an 89' Toyota p/u with a 22re which was much easier to work on than my 92' 300zx that I rebuilt from the ground up a couple years back.
Long story short, I am getting my sisters 98' 4Runner, 3rz-fe, AT as it had a couple bad valves. My Dad started to take it apart prior to me agreeing to buy it and stopped prior to me getting into it as he has a bad back. Along with my Dad starting and a friend helping my lack of knowledge of the 3rz and long durations between wrenching days I have got everything back together with the exception of a few bolts...:redbrick::redbrick:
For a brief overview a couple of valves went bad in cylinder 1 and 4 and the motor has just about 190k. Since I would like to drive this into the ground I decided to redo everything except the short block. The head was ripped off and sent to a machine shop for a valve job and tolerances checked. The timing and balance chain, water and oil pump along with all other routine maintenance stuff was done.
2 of the same scares me the most..link below as I couldn't figure out how to add images to post...

These 3 bolts did not find a home and I'm hoping someone may have some insight as I have started the truck and with the exception of a P0325 code (knock sensor) it runs great. I am meticulous when it comes to working on my cars/bikes and with my lack of 3rz knowledge and my Dad and friend helping I am hoping these bolts aren't as crucial as I feel that they are...I have yet to go drive it as I solely started it to see how it ran and only had time to get it back together and do a brief run through of everything (connections, vacuum lines, torque specs). I have no problem to rip it all back apart to get it done right but I just hope these bolts are external and I can access them somewhat easily..
If anyone happens to know the location of these bolts it would be MUCH appreciated and if one is in the Bay Area I would love to buy you a beer! Thank you in advance and even though I told myself I wouldn't be doing any mods to this vehicle after perusing all the build threads I've felt a tick under the skin that wants to surface...
I hope the images worked...thanks again guys and gals!
