Bootboy's 2000 SR5 build thread.

Running strong after finding a massive vacuum leak.

Need to mess with the steering and get an alignment, it's pulling pretty bad right now and the wheel is about 25° to the right when going straight. Just fine tuning. Adjustable panhard on its way

As a note, the rear upper shock mounts on the third gens is probably Toyota's single worst piece of engineering. Bilstein also screwed up when they designed the 5100 for the 3rd gen. If you've installed them yourself you know what I mean.

Got it aligned (finally, after being turned away twice when the shop had rusted vehicles with broken parts on their alignment rack)

Drives straight and smooth. Pretty smooth on bumpy stuff with minimal rattling incident to the age of the vehicle.

Next up: sound deadening.

I have a flow master which I'm not sure I'm going to keep. We'll see how the sound deadening goes before I decide to ditch the muffler.

I'll be replacing the torn drivers side door seal today. Got used door seals for $1 each from a wrecked low mileage rig at the local pick'n pull :D

your build is looking great, all your hard work will be worth it.

btw: if you ever want to sell the mudguards from your old rig, i'd buy them.

Tundra yy/yb and tundra 5100. 3rd perch.

Toytec superflex rear and 3rd gen 5100's

New sway bar bushings from and rear.

Poly power steering bushings.

SS adjustable panhard inbound

SPC upper control arms.

Diff drop also coming

I knew as soon as I lifted it, I was libel to tear a cv boot. Sure enough, grease everywhere today... It's always something

Nice looking rig man! What size are those Cooper ST Maxx tires? I think those will be my next shoes after my BFG KO2s.

What did you do about the torn boot? is just getting new boots enough to insure they wont tear again or do you need different ones? i just put adjustable fox 2.0s on my 3rd gen a week ago and they are only set at around 1.5 inch lift, i want them higher but the guy at ORW said the higher we go the more we risk throwing cv boots.

Yeah, the boots will wear out more quickly with geater driveline angles.

Bear in mind though that mine are 16 years old. New boots should last a while.

I've not driven much on my torn boot so I'll pull it and check the wear on the axles themselves. If they are nice and tight then I'll just replace the boots. If their is any sign that hey are less than perfect. I'll replace the whole thing.

So I'm losing my mind over this.

Ever since I put my new head unit in, my clock has been out, I just figured I forgot a plug when I put the dash bezel back on.

I pulled it off today and sure enough, the clock socket had nothing plugged into it.

I looked around, and couldn't find the plug. I picked things apart and can't find anything! Pretty sure my clock worked before. How could the plug simply have disappeared? There is seriously nothing in sight.

What the hell?!?!?

Seriously.

I learned that the rear window power supply can plug into the clock socket but then I lose my rear window. I don't want to have to chose between rear window and my clock.

So what is going? Any ideas?

Fixed. What appears to be a connector on the back of the rear window switch is a dummy plug. Wtf Toyota?

Hey nice rig
Did you ever have any kind of vibration issues with your LCA bushing as bad as it was ?
Kinda like if your tires are out of balance ?

Thanks

I just had terrible squeaking when the suspension cycled and pretty bad clunking when letting off the brakes from a stop or switching from reverse to drive and vice versa. T

So I had a little cash float my way and before I got to attached to it, I ordered some aluminum RCI skid plates. Should be here next week :bootyshake:

After being super disappointed with some LED dome lights, I ordered a couple LED cobs with dome light adapters. 36 elements on one cob! Stupid bright in my cargo area. Love it. Totally worth the $3/each and 3 week wait from China.

Next mechanical upgrade will likely be LBJs. They're the only thing I didn't do when I had the whole front end blown up all over my driveway. Should've done it then.

I did the nose cone on my SC but I'm afraid the rotor bearings are bad. I don't have the means or the guts to do those so I'm going to send it out for a rebuild :(.
