Borla Cat Back Installed on 2014 TE

o and shes soo much faster now. i have yet to get a dyno test done i have the URD U-Spec LT headers, no cats straight to the URD-Y pipe straight to the borla...luckly i have a connect at my inspection next summer.

no i havent dynoed it yet, i probably should to get an idea of the numbers my runner puts out compared to stock.
it sounds as close to a v8 that im going to get with the 4.0 v6
and shes quiet on the highway when cruising, roars when i step on it.

Borla CatBack plus K&N air intake system

Does anyone have both the Borla Catback system and the K&N air intake system installed? I'm thinking about doing both to mine, and I'm curious about how they sound together, gas mileage gain (if any), noticeable power gain, and if anybody has any empirical evidence backing any of this.

So the guy who put in my Borla told me that the mass flow sensor would flip out if I also modified the air intake. Not sure if that is because I'm at altitude or not, but caveat emptor!

Pretty sure that guy is wrong. Plenty of us on here have both exhaust mods and cold air intakes installed with no issues, myself included. I have the URD competition Y pipe, magnaflow 18" muffler, and TRD CAI on mine. I did disconnect the battery during install so the ECU would learn the airflow.

Installed the TRD CAI as well with the Borla Cat Back on my 14TE. It does growl at WOT and No issues with sensors at all. Now on Summer blend fuel and routinely posting 17-18 MPG city miles and 19-20 MPG Highway miles. (I do run 70-80MPH)

In comparison, quieter then wife's 15 Camry XSE with Borla Dual Exhaust Cat-Back and AFE Dry Filter Intake. This has a very mild drone at 2KRPM. However, this car with the 3.5L V6 flat out is a rocket, very fast, handles and rides great and excellent fuel mileage.

Good to know. I am actually starting to lean towards just having one of the new Borla mufflers installed to save money. I am having a hard time understanding if there would be a benefit to having the whole cat back system from Borla. I am probably wrong about this, so i am curious to know if there is any evidence of performance increase for the full catback system over just a muffler. The muffler i am thinking about is "Borla Pro XS."

Suggest you do a search as think others have gone that route installing just the Borla Pro XS. Previous T4R was a 2005. Nephew has it now. Put an AFE CAI and TRD Side Exhaust Cat Back on this one. Much loader and droned.
As for performance increase, someone did a Dyno run on TRD CAI and proved to naysayers there is performance increase. Based on the performance gains, see the increase in pulling hills with less throttle to offset or downshifts.

Good Luck

I know Im not a 5th gen owner, but I know Borla is not cheap. Probably around 599-799 for the catback...couple questions is it even high clearance and you said you barely notice the sound? Why not go with a nice magna flow muffler and larger piping, take it to a muffler shop like marco muffler and have them weld you up a nice high clearance exhaust so if and when you hit the trails you have more clearance the 4th gen muffler hangs down low like the 5th gen does. With muffler and install I think it was $350 bucks. Not to mention the magna flow with v8 sounds amazing, sounds like a built small black chevy motor. I have a magna flow on my 22re as well and sounds amazing I will post a GoPro video for y'all today so you can see how good it sounds!

Sorry to revive an old thread. But you know Marco muffler? They do a good job?

Does anyone run a Borla on their TRD Off Road Premium? I have a 2018 but Borla's site indicates that it wont fit.

"2010-2018 Toyota 4Runner/2011-2016 Land Cruiser Prado 4.0L Auto/Manual Trans 2+4Wheel Drive. Does not include TRD PRO TForce SR5 or TRD Offroad."

I cant see why the Offroad would be any different. Anyone given it a shot?
