Borla exhaust for 05' V8 Sport

In case anybody with a Sport is interested....... Borla is soon to come out with a cat back exhaust that fits it......so they tell me. I asked on their website if they will have a cat back exhaust that will fit my 05' 4WD V8 Sport with the XREAS suspension. This was their response:

Borla/TRD exhaust for Sport Edition V8 w/X-REAS

After reading this thread and waiting, I emailed Borla to see if they have a system available for the Sport Edition V8s with X-REAS. They knew nothing of any new part number in development and replied as follows:

"Thank you for contacting BORLA PERFORMANCE. Ind. Although we do not presently have a specific exhaust application for your vehicle request, please consider the other BORLA options available to you immediately:

Our ProXS line of performance mufflers and tailpipe tips are available at local muffler shops - refer to our website for a listing; and
Our Universal Exhaust line is available directly from our website as well as through retailers nationwide.

We value your interest, and I have forwarded your specific vehicle request to our Research and Development Team for future consideration. We are continually developing new applications, so please check back on our site.

If you need assistance placing an order, please contact me anytime during our business hours, Monday - Friday, 8am-5pmPST.

In addition to checking with Borla, I did some more research on the TRD exhaust system with X-REAS. The answer I got from a TRD retailer was as follows:

"Thanks for the inquiry

They have no plans to support the TRD exhaust with XREAS, I've asked them
many times myself

Now you can use the dual exhaust but it will misplace your spare tire and
would have to mount or store in the cargo area, two of my customers have
done this to make it work they wanted one so bad

Sport Exhaust...

Yeah, I figured she doesn't know too much since she's probably just a sales rep and has nothing to do with R&D. I asked that she forward the msg to whoever would be able to answer it best. She says she did, but I'll be surprised if I get an answer from someone else at Borla...

As far as the TRD exhaust goes, I'm guessing the 06s have the spare tire mounted in the same location. I'll check more and try to update for those interested (other than me, of course!).

I take back everything I said before. Apparently the sales person I talked to didn't know what they were talking about. The kit from Borla is now available...

My truck has X-reas AND the Air Suspension, and the trd dual exhuast fit just fine. The only thing that we had to modify was the rear tail pipe hanger on the driver side. It needed to be cut and rotated 90 degrees. Other than that, it fit perfectly.

Anyone knows the major difference between the the new borla 05 v8 4runner exhaust and the TRD 05 v8 4runner exhaust. Does one perform better then the other or sound better. Which do you all recommend?

There is really no performance difference...although the TRD should be "tuned" to toyotas design.

Im not sure what the cosmetic differences are other than one saying borla and one TRD
