Borla ProXS vs XR1 mufflers

Hey everyone, I'm looking to get a muffler for my rig, I was initially looking into a Flowmaster Super 44, but I think it may be too loud for a daily driver in the city.

Now I am stuck between these two Borla models, there aren't very many sound clips of 4th Gen V6s with either muffler, so was wondering if anyone on these forums had any experience with either of these mufflers?

Also had a few questions:

Any differences between these two models?

What size did you get? I've read varying answers of either 2.25 or 2.5 piping, which one should I get?

Which one best fits 4th gens? center/center center/offset offset/offset?

How's the noise level in the cabin? Any droning?

the xr1 is a race muffler, its comparable to the loudness of that flowmaster. i think that proxs is what they use on that cat back system. you will need a 2.5 center in and offset out. i do have the super 44 on my truck and its louder than a magnaflow cat back.

The XR-1 will be very loud. Search youtube for 4Runner Borla and you'll find a video of a 3rd gen with one installed. I can't remember the guy's username but he's on this forum. If it's that loud coming out of the puny 3.4 V6, I imagine it will be louder with the 4.0. I was looking into this muffler myself for my '04 V8 because of how loud and mean it sounds.

As far as the other muffler, I'm not sure.

How do you like the super 44? I'm not too worried about the noise level of people I drive by, but more of the noise level in the interior cabin. Is it really that noticeable? Is it bothersome to you or any of your passengers?

I had a stainless 2.5 system with an XR-1 on my old 944... it'll set off car alarms but sounds amazing doing it!!

for me i like it loud, thats why i have a loud ass stereo, the question is do u like loud? Its noticble inside. If you like loud try the borla, i want to swap to borla xr1, but the shortest one. Shorter the muffler, the louder it is.

I have a borla pro xs 40665 (i think that's the right p/n ... Center offset 2.5") welded in to my v6. It's definitely louder than stock(my wife's) but not too bad of a drone. It's probably a tad louder cause I have a cai as well... If I had to do it all over again, I'd no neither as I think nothing is gained performance wise from the intake or muffler other than using more gas.
