Bosch Icons vs Rain X Lattitude blades...

i've been running the icon blades for about a year now.. they worked real well, expect it misses the top 2" of the driver's side windshield.. i've read some posted here about the rainX lattitude blades going all the way to the top... bad news....they dont.. maybe just as the same as the icons or just a little more..

the rainx are a little quieter when they wipe, but my icons were a year old.. the icons have a cover that covered the reciever arm of the wiper blade, where as the rainx ones dont. i went through a couple of rain storms so far and the rainX blades performs the same if now a little better than the Icons... i dont remember how the icons were new.. i think they were good too..

anyway, i'm still searching for a blade that will wipe all the way to the top and that are a icon/lattitude type blade. PIAA's maybe?

I've been running the Icon's on my rig for a year or so. Mine hit the top of the driver's side windshield. Are you sure you bought the correct length? Maybe try a different pair?

I,m still running with my original blades and their are just starting to show streaks. I did try several auto stores for the rear wiper and was told they are dealer items, any one else able to buty after market?

I have been to just about every auto parts chain in the midwest in search of the rear wiper blade....no where has it.....it is indeed a dealer item...they are less than $15 though.

Put Bosch Icons on my 4Runner and the wife's Camry about fifteen months ago. Mine started to streak badly about a month ago (but the Camry's are still going strong). I changed to the Rain-x mainly because of the price...and man, they are quiet. We'll see how long they last.

When I switched to the Icon's I used just 20" on both sides to get rid of that annoying streaking at the top and passenger side. Don't miss that irrelevant 2" so I am sticking to 20" from now on.

Rear wiper blade from the dealer is cheap. All you need to get is the blade insert..... I think mine was less than $5

Needed new blades badly, and the only PIAA dealer in town was out of my size...in fact most sizes! So went down to the local discounter and picked up RainX everything -- Latitude blades, windshield cleaner, treatment, and 2in1 windshield washer fluid.

So we had a typical drizzly, oily-salty-crap-still-on-the-road, dirty windshield day here in Central OH, so I figured it was worth a test drive. It worked great!!

Not sure what all is happening here, but the thorough cleaning and treatment combined with their washer fluid and the new blades, I can't even hear them on the windshield. maybe it has something to do with all the silicon additives or the teflon or graphite in the blades, but it works very well.

ive been using bosch stuff for years now and after swapping out my GF's wipers in her golf to the Lattidues...im going to use them from now on. They seem awesome.

i highly recommend the PIAA silicone wiper blades... i've only heard good things about them and last a really long time. i got them at tirerack.com for $40

Even with the really curved blade, it looks like there might be 1/2" that doesn't touch the very top of the windshield like the old blade style I had on there. You could easily do 21, or maybe even another 20" length like the right side.

I wouldn't waste money with anything other than PIAA Super Silicone. These worked great on my last vehicle for over 3 years. In addition to being streak and squeak free, they also beaded water so you don't need to apply Rain-X. It's only been 3 months on my T4R so I'm still running stock wipers. But when I replace, it will be with the PIAA.

I find that you really need two things...

- OEM blade inserts (refills)
- and Rain-X windshield washer fluid

I'm telling you guys...if you go out and take a good look at your windshield...kinda rub your hand over the top part...the 4th gen 4runner windshield has an 'odd' curvature at the top part...

I'm thinking that it may be the reason some members here had vision issues with the 4runner windshield.

Yep, saw that. That's why I'm thinking maybe going 21" or even 20" on the driver side wiper would be best.
