...but I'm not sellin' the 4Runner!

Yes, it was time for the 10 year-old Passat to go. So a 2010 Prius will be parked in the garage tonight. Loaded, with the "big" wheels and LED headlamps. Now the Toys can keep each other company!

I'm excited to start getting 50+ mpg during the commute. The 'runner will still be the go-to vehicle for snow days and heavy haulin'.

Just wanted to share my joy on this snowy ass day!

Those things are SO quiet on the inside when you're driving. Kinda strange to me, but I guess I'd get used to it.
 
You must have a decent commute to get that. =} I used to have a long commute so I get it. I remember when gas was .98/gal at ARCO.... the good old days when you could drive anything, anywhere, and not worry much about it.

Every a** hole has a Prius around Seattle it seems. They love to drive in the left hand lane at sub speed limit speed. Its really aggravating! I think I just hate the [Seattle] operators, not so much the car. =}

i tend to agree, but i think your missing the fact that's every ******* in the state.....not just the prius drivers though they tend to be worse, as most of them bought them so they can smell thier own farts as opposed of just trying to save some gas money like the OP, seattle people are puzzies in their cars and seattle prius drivers doubly so....

the OP is from WI, somehow i don't see him being anything like the seattlite type.......passive aggressive self centered holier than thou liberal puzzy.... (i'm a liberal btw, just not one of those liberals):lightsaber:

you're absolutely right and I should have qualified, Seattle operators, not just operators. My passive aggressive side must be coming through and I went into a tangential rant. :tongue:

In Seattle, the left lane is the designated space out lane. And if you have enough people in your car to drive in the carpool lane, you HAVE to. Even if you plan on going 10 under and there's no traffic. Oh and the yellow light in a signal means "hit brakes immediately".

Sorry for the tangent OP. Nice purchase. I borrow my mom's Prius from time to time and it always floors me to go from 16mpg to 47mpg. If I had a long commute, I would easily own a second vehicle that is more economical.

Madison is a lot like Seattle that way We have a bunch here.

The OP's Puris will fit in very nicely in Madison.

I do wish I had a Pruis too and a 4runner. Way to go Qyota, did you get it at Lancaster?

My main complaint about Madison drivers is the inability to merge. And they like to smell farts, lol
 
The cost of the Prius will NEVER recoup your extra cost in gasoline the TR4 burns over the Prius! Plus, you will never see 50MPG, more like 40-43MPG:ybrick:

same could be said for any new car, if your getting a new one might as well get one that gets great mpg's.....of course with a screen name like RSdude your gonna bash on the prius, lol, stroke for folks man, if that's his bag it's his to carry, let him enjoy it :cheers:

If the decision to buy the Prius is to save money on fuel, then it would make more sense to buy a good used fuel efficient Toyota with low miles, than a new Prius. Did you forget to factor in the new set of USD $10,000 batteries you need to replace @100,000 miles...

sure because whatever we say here is going to make the op take his new car that he obviously is happy about back......

we also don't know his driving habits or anything else about the mans life, maybe it'll take him 20 years to drive 100k who knows, i don't and don't pretend to by placing my opinion above his, like the fat cow in that video i just watched........and heck even if it is a poor choice if the guys happy about it, it's his money, he's gotta drive it and he's gotta maintain it, it has nothing to do with me, who the hell am i to start taking him down a few notches?:hatsoff:

i think getting married and having kids is probably the worst logical choice any of us have ever made, but it makes up happy, and that's not so bad right? basically the op could have done worse things with his money....

Oh man. Isn't it tough to comprehend stupidity in such large doses? It totally catches me off guard every time I see it. Way to keep your cool! Can't say that I would have been able to be as civil. I have found myself in a few different scenarios involving equally stupid and equally charged discussions. Deep down inside I always have a strong desire to compress the person's head between the palms of my hands repeatedly until they stop spewing stupidity. It's an urge that's getting more difficult to fight each time I encounter such instances. I should probably either find a better way to avoid stupid people or read some zen book or something. Anyway, thanks for sharing.

As for the new Prius owner, more power to you. Cost savings won't justify it, IMO, but new cars are always cool (even if they aren't). Congrats!

You never know ... Prius is a lot more money than my used tC was, but the Scion was cheaper for me to buy than to drive the truck daily. Remember the 4runner isn't just about cost of gas, you have to figure in tires, oil changes, other wear items, etc. Prius has that extra cost of the battery replacement etc, but I'm sure there is a certain daily mileage that could make that equation work out to the Prius being financially advantageous.
 
Congrats, glad im not the only one who enjoy's mpgs, i do get why you bought a new prius vs a used car, atleast for me its nice to get in the damn thing and not have to worry about having to fix it, or something going wrong every time you get in it.

But obviously i wouldn't buy a prius, but to each their own.
