I say option 5! You could always easily turn it into a wheeler if you decide you no longer need a beach cruiser. Although half doors and a convertible sound sweet it would be useful to have some sort of hard top roof option, maybe a modified tacoma camper shell.

I say swap the locker into your '99, put the parts you currently have for it on, and fix what you can do for little to no cost to you. You can probably get your $2500 back and you get a free locker out of it.

I'm curious....what do you do for the wife in order for her to put up with the "sickness" of so many 4R's coming thru and the constant ordering of parts...just kidding.

My wife loves the 4R and thus I'm exploiting that as much as I can at the moment!

Sold it today to YotaZach85. Took a pretty decent hit on it but Zach needed a new ride, he's a good dude and he's helped me out with wrenching on my other trucks numerous times. Looking forward to seeing what he does with it.

We're also going to swap the eLocker into mine and he's going to help me with the valve adjustment in my '00.

Fair enough I think.

Big huge thanks to Tom, he really hooked up here. My car needs a lot of attention right now and I'm kind of in a bind with it and Tom gave me a killer deal on the 97, really can't thank him enough.

She's in rough shape but she's still salvageable. I drove it the hour and 20 minutes home without issue other than a misfire the whole way and the bald tires wobbling down the road Got it home at 4:00 and by 5:30 we had the hatch put together aside from the broken latch, spark plugs pulled and inspected (had NGK single ground in the passenger side and Bosch Platinum 4s in the drivers side, all worn down to a nub), the misfire appears to be a bad coil boot so no big deal there, and I found wet (oil) plugs in the drivers side so I tore it down to do valve cover gaskets, and I pulled the tires so I can change them at work today.

Other mechanical issues I've found so far include: rear axle seals and most likely rear shoes, the parking brake sticks a little, needs a clutch, I'll probably throw some cheap rear shocks in it, and like Tom said it needs a muffler. It'll be running good this weekend with new tires and hopefully have the rear brakes and seals squared away. My plan is to be driving it in 2 weeks, I'll have to do the clutch later on down the road, it holds now but it lets out all the way up top. I'll deal with the cosmetics as I go.

If you want, let me know and I can give you the clutch, flywheel and pressure plate that I pulled off Tyrone, the clutch looks new.

I also have more spare coils than I know what to do with from the original engine. You can pull the spark plugs out of the old engine - I know that Tom put them in recently so they're pretty much new.

Hell it may be easier to pull my "old" valve covers to repalce yours rather than doing your seals.
