Brackets and accessories for OEM Limited Roof Rack

Does anyone know where I can find brackets and accessories for the OEM Limited roof rack with crossbars?

I am having difficulty finding accessories that attach to the crossbars. Initially, I need brackets for canoes and kayaks, but maybe other items later.

So far my only accessory has been a handful of nylon straps!

I was hoping for something with a little more support on the sides. I have a Mad River Adventure 16. The biggest challenge is keeping it from sliding fore and aft.

I figured with larger side supports, the wide center of the canoe could hold it more securely. I've been doing it with straps successfully, but it takes a while and not much room for error.

I know that with my kayak rack on yakima, i still had to strap it on every car i've ever owned. Yakima and thule are almost universally supported so they're great to use for the sake of replacement parts. I haven't ever done canoe transport though.

Each of those bracket kits are in the better than $100 range. Does anyone know an alternative or sales on these? It seems like a lot for 4 brackets and some straps.

Most of their accessories right out of the box will work on your current factory crossbars. No special clips needed, just the kayak/canoe holder. I haven't found anything reasonably close to quality, function, or price.

The Yakima keelover MSRP is $99 and does canoes. The evenkeel seems to do at least kayaks (not sure if both openwater or whitewater kayak) and it too is $99. Both of these mount directly to the factory Toyota mount. And at $99 they are a steal.

If you are near a REI store, they have them in stock for you to look at and the sales people could help verify its what you are looking for.

Also both of the ones I linked have built in strapping mechanisms so no additional strapping needed. good luck!

You're right, I didn't realize all the accessories bolted directly to the oem bars. I'll have to look closer at them. There is an REI about an hour from me, I think, near Bedford, PA.

Has anyone used either the Thule or Yakima canoe holders mentioned? How are the straps? The pic shows cinch style straps on the Yakima. I've used cheap strapsmlike this and they tends to work loose. Maybe because they were cheap harbor freight ones?

I can only speak for the Yakima, and they held up great. Never wiggled loose. Harbor freight is harbor freight, jack of all trades, and DEFINITELY not master of any of them. Yakima is only a vehicle storage company, whether its trailer hitch mount, roof mount, or even their trailers, and requires that their product is high quality to stay in business with competition from Thule. Also, if you get it at REI, they support all of their products with a no questions asked return policy.
