Brake booster ticking

Is the brake booster making a ticking noise normal on these rigs? I haven't noticed any problems with brake performance but there is a fairly audible ticking noise coming from the booster. Has done it for as long as I've had it but I'm about to drive it from Oregon to Texas and I don't need any mid-trip surprises.

What year of rig 2001 or 2002 or older ?

Sure it is not the evap solenoid that sits in front of the booster on top of the inner fender well? If so, I'm pretty sure it is normal for those to tick. My 99 does.

It's called the 4runner tick.

Probably the EVAP stuff ticking away on the fender well in front of the booster. Mine does this. Or you could be hearing the fuel injectors (also known as Toyota Tick/4Runner Tick). We've got some really loud injectors compared to most other vehicles of that age.

Makes more sense to have the evap ticking.. Mostly only the 2001 and 2002 with the integrated abs and master cylinder makes the noises. As its right in the same area I am agreeing with Badluck on this one.

It's called the 4runner tick.

The injectors can tick.. The Evap can tick. The engine can slightly knock...
Toyotas was never known to be quiet.. However, they mostly run for quite a long time before complete failure..

Just did the old fuel line stethoscope check and it's the EVAP can. It sure did sound like it was coming from the booster to my naked ear. False alarm. Haha.
