Brake Dive

I've owned my truck since last summer (50K miles) and this evening I had to perform my first [really] sudden braking maneuver.

I knew the suspension was soft, but holy crap I think the front skid plate hit the ground when I hit the brakes. I certainly don't expect the truck to brake as flat as my Miata, but this was unlike anything I've experienced (short of flipping over my handlebars when I was a kid).

My question is this... I'm planning to do the FJ/5100 install, but will this help with the brake diving? Anyone notice any improvement? I'm wondering if the difference in spring rates is enough to make a difference.

50k miles is so few miles that if your 4runner is diving when you brake...then I think you have some serious problems. My 05 with over 220k miles with the OEM springs and bilstein shocks and my truck has never come close to diving.

i know what you mean. couldnt stand it myself, the fj coils & 5100 will most definitely solve or help .

Ik the feeling op... going from a sports car to a suv myself was a big change in terms of handling. While my 02 stops great, it certainly dives a bit.
