Brake issues

Well then after feeling a constant pulsating and hearing a scraping sound i took a look at the the front brakes and the front right brake is pretty messed up I'm guessing a stuck caliper but what i dont understand is why it would be stuck I just replaced this particular caliper only about 2 years ago what gives? You can see the amount of brake dust on the rim I suppose there is more brake on the rim then the rotor itself also notice how there's one pad that is pretty much non-existent now hmmm.

Did you replace with a reman caliper? If so that’s why it stuck again quickly. Also if you noticed that much dust and look from that one side why wouldn’t you check it sooner?

Well look how rusted your caliper is. You live in Canada. Land of salt and snow. You will be replacing these calipers at least every 24 months for the life of the vehicle. Some people have had good luck with 5th gen brake upgrade or aftermarket. But for me I just buy autozone duralast gold which have a lifetime warranty. And just turn them in for new ones every 2 years.

I'm not sure what brand It is a shop called me over the phone saying I needed a caliper so ordered that one and put it on I never noticed the brake dust until yesterday when I went to check what the loud squealing was.

Well, I originally ordered just the front 5th gen calipers, rotors, stainless lines, etc. I ordered from Amazon and everything showed as “in stock”. The drilled slotted rotors and Z34 extreme pads came as a set, and arrived within a week, as did the lines, Speedbleeders, etc. No calipers though, and those were coming from Jegs, as they were the only ones that had them “in stock”. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and I had a catastrophic brake failure. The truck had been making scraping noises for about a week, which sounded like it was coming from the front, which made sense because I determined I had a frozen caliper in front already (why I decided to order the upgraded parts in the first place). Turned out that while I do have a frozen caliper in front, it was the right rear that failed. I had the full Christmas tree lighting on my dash, loud alarm sound from the ABS warning, etc., and of course, lost all pedal pressure! When I stopped to see what happened, there was no fluid in the master, and a the right rear wheel was covered in fluid. Now, the rear brakes became the priority, and since I started with the Powerstop stuff I faced a dilemma... order the matching rear and wait while my truck was not driveable, or source a cheap caliper and rotor locally as a place holder until I got the Powerstop. After pricing out the cheapest option at Autozone, it was going to be about $160 for a set of pads, a caliper, and a rotor. This time Amazon showed all of the parts I needed “in stock” and Prime, so I’d have them in a couple of days, so I decided to leave the truck on jack stands rather than waste the money on a temp set. So... now that I’ve gotten past that, I can tell you the parts are beautiful and the rears work excellent, but I STILL don’t have the front calipers yet, after several weeks! I ended up calling Jegs, and they told me that they didn’t have them, and had to get them from Powerstop, which was fine, but then they told me Powerstop backordered them!:wtf: Jegs sent me an email last week saying that they should ship Nov 2nd. So, in summary, while I do like the parts, I wish I had just ordered directly from Powerstop so I would have known the situation up front, then I would’ve had the choice to either wait, or buy locally and get it done. Once I had the rears, I was pretty much committed to just wait it out. Sorry for the long answer, but I wanted to put this out there to help others in deciding what route to take. If time is not a factor, then Powerstop can be a good option, otherwise stay local, and get the best parts you can with a warranty, in case they seize again.
