Brake job from Hell!!

I just picked up a 94 4Runner yesterday. Driving it home I knew the rotors were warped and it needs an alignment. Well today I went to do the front pads and rotors and:

1. The drivers side wheel will NOT come off!! It is frozen to the hub, I tried penetrating oil, hitting from the back, wiggling it, heat, everything?!?!?

2. How the F&*^* do you get the rotors off? I picked up the chiltons but it didnt help their description didnt seem like what I had in front of me....

3. I broke a wheel lug by overtightening the lug nut

So In all I got the pads done on the passenger side and thats it... Is there anything I can do here or just take it to a shop? I am very mechanical and have done engine swaps and rear end gear changes but this was rediculous!!

Oh and there is a HUGE oil seepage by the front passenger side on all the suspension components, is there a typical culprit for this?

1)buy a used one off e-bay
2)some Toyota dealerships may give you one or sell it for $10-20 (used) as most Toyota dealerships don't repair many old Toyotas and no longer need the service manual
3)some public libraries sell their old books as they are not in demand any longer
4)some free buy & sell classified papers,websites and bulletin boards may have some used ones for sale
5)some junk yards may have one laying around
6)some Toyota specialty garages may have one laying around and no longer use it as the vehicle may be too old and those mechanics probably have so much experience that they could publish their own factory service manual with corrections and "real world repair tips"
7)if someone has the FSM maybe they could scan all of the pages and post it on a site for all of us to download or view.

1) The only thing I can think that would keep the wheel from coming off is if it's binding on the hub for some reason. Are the wheels OEM or aftermarket (and wrong size)? Probably going to have to brute force the wheel off the hub.

2) 4wd? It's not hard, but not as trivial as 2wd vehicles. This exploded chart should help: Front axle hub assembly
While you're in there, grease up the wheel bearings.

3) Only 70-80 lb-ft for 4Runner lug nuts. A good torque wrench is your buddy. :

For the leak maybe check your power steering, hose is leaking?

Do you lose oil more then normal?


MIke
