Brake light problem

I recently acquired a 92 4runner. There are a couple minorish problems with it. One of them is the brake lights, they don't go on when the brakes are applied, and often come on when the brakes are not applied.

Any ideas on what the problem is? TIA.

There is a switch for the brake lights on the brake pedal linkage, under the dash.
Check it out, make sure it's operating properly.

problem solved.
The bulbs just needed replacing

Seems like I'm replacing my stoplights about twice a yr. - must be a common problem.
