Brake Light

Sorry guys, the car didn't have a manual when I bought it so this may seem kind of a retarded question.

But sometimes when I drive, the red brake light that is usually associated with the hand brake sometimes flashes on and off.

Does this mean that my normal brakes are going bad or is that a seperate light?

It's the same light for parking brake being engaged or if there's a problem with the brake system.

Check your brake fluid level in the reservoir, usually when it's low enough the brake light will illuminate even when the parking brake is released. It's probably flashing on and off because it's right in between low and not low enough. If you already topped it off before and it's on again, it's time to check your brake pads. Just remember to siphon some fluid out when you replace your brakes if you topped off.
