brake pad replacement DIY?

hello- I'm looking to replace my brake pads (and hopefully not rotors) soon and was looking for a DIY, or instructions to do so. A search of the forums yielded a ton of brake related issues but no actual instructions.

I've done plenty of brake work on european cars, but wanted to make sure there was nothing special that needed to be done with these trucks. Specifically, some cars require the key to be "on" so the abs system has power and builds pressure etc.

If there is no DIY, is it just a matter of opening the fluid reservoir, depressing caliper pistons, and installing new pads? anything to be careful of in there?

I just got done replacing mine a week ago, ya it's just like any other brake job pretty easy. Also I was going to get EBC but couldn't wait so had to go to Advance to pick pads. I went with Wagner ThermoQuite and am extremely please with them

EBC makes great stuff. Ran them on a blown cobra I used to have. However, I have had nothing but great success with the Wagner ThermoQuiets. Lifetime replacement when I purchased them from O'Reilly's. I've also seen spotty Q/C from EBC in the past.

Hawk LT is the best out there for my money.

I've been using Wagner when I can for over 30 years. They also are an OEM manufacturer.

Hawk also make very good pads.
