2. Be sure that your rotors are turned, especially if there is any warping of the surface (as is often the case). Otherwise, your new pads may wear prematurely and the brake pedal could give you a pulsing senstation every time you need to slow down or come to a stop.
3. Why do you need to replace your brake pads on a 2005? My 4Runner is identical to yours (4x4, V6) and I still have most of my brake pad surfaces remaining at 28,XXX miles. You either have a lot more mileage or you migh be driving it a bit too hard {easy to do in Richmond - LOL!}.
