Brake Pads/Rotors Recommendation

I've seen people request info on brake & rotor replacements for our 4Rs on this site as I did once, and not get great detailed info. I have the 2008 Limited 6cyl.

Last August I replaced my front pads and rotors with the Powerstop K2421 from Amazon for about $200 with free shipping. Went in perfectly and the drilled slotted rotors looked great. Installed them myself with help from a neighbor, I never did brakes before. Took us about 1-1.25 hours total.

Yesterday I did the rears with the Powerstop K2405 kit, $150 with free shipping (I have Amazon Prime) again, perfect fit and look great.

I have nothing to do with this company or Amazon, just very happy with the ruggedness and look/feel of the drilled slotted rotors.

I've read many tests on the effectiveness of drill/slotted rotors. Every single one of them said that..UNLESS you're racing they make 0% difference in standard brake rotors. While they look good...they don't work any better.

You're probably right, but they look friggin nice and the price for the pads + rotors shipped is pretty good. No other HW needed to change the brakes.

One thing that impresses me on this vehicle is the ease of owner servicability, much easier than most other vehicles I've owned. Oil, plugs, lights, brakes etc... Even the ease of a lot of mods I've done has impressed.

Maintenance is nice. Love the oil filter on the V6 (don't know where it is on the V8). So easy to change. Spark plugs are easy....Air filter is the easiest I've ever seen. My wifes Lexus the air filter is buried..and once you get to it - it's still a pain.

you have over paid for those, the ebay seller brakemotive sells those for less, the last i saw for complete front and back rotors and pads were less that 200. im using the same rotors on my setup, its good, but after i flushed the old fluid for new fluid, along with ebc yellow pads and stoptech lines, these are more bite. even with the ebc green 6000's pads i was using,it was better than stock.

After reading threads on this, I just ordered a full set of OEM online for $117. Saved about $50 over Dealer pricing. Should arrive today.

Do not buy Hawk Super Dutys. They give very inconsistent braking.
I'm running the O'Reilly Ceramics http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/BrakeBestSelectCeramic.oap I'm running them on my 4runner, a F250 and an Xterra. They have noticeably better stopping power than OE.
