Brake Pads rubbing Rotors after replacement, is this normal?

Hi everyone,

I noticed a small squeaky sound when driving about 10-20 mph without braking right after I replaced my rotors and brake pads, so I took my wheels off and discovered my pads are rubbing my rotors slightly. I can still turn it by hand and stuff, but it makes a noise as if they are touching.

I just replaced the front rotors with Brembo blanks and Hawk LTS pads.

Is this normal? If not, what's wrong?

Yea there will always be some rubbing, there is nothing to pull them back away from the rotor. The rubbing is minimal and as long as you can spin the wheel by hand you are just fine

You will have a short break in period. Pads should always look flush with the rotors. If everything is still factory spec, like rotor thickness, it should go away very fast. If it continues to do it, you may have a problem.

if they werent up close to the rotor, you would have to pump the pedal once to get the pads the touch, and then a 2nd time to stop.

as long as the pad fit into the brackets easily, and didnt need to be forced.

Correct! That's what the residual valve is for.
