Brake Upgrade for 16" wheels

Have a 2003 SR5 with 16" wheels. Replaced rotors and calipers about a year ago. The truck stops okay. I got the remanned NAPA calipers with a lifetime replacement.
Ive been driving my brothers 04 Tundra for the past couple of weeks, this truck stops so much better than my 4Runner. The pedal feels so much firmer. The 4Runner stops okay, just doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
I'd like to keep my 16" wheels. Any brake upgrade advice?
Maybe go with stainless steel brake lines? Different pads? Stoptec Calipers? Drilled and slotted rotors?
Any advice wold be appreciated

drilled/slotted rotors are a gimmick in regards to stop tech. Steel braided lines may give you some improved feedback, I've never used them but that's what others report. With 16's you're limited as you can't upgrade to 5th gen brakes. You can find OEM 17's for pretty cheap on craigslist, and probably still dump your 16's for a couple hundred bucks.

If you want bigger brakes you pretty much have to upgrade to a 17” rim.

I have done a complete front and rear brake refresh using the smaller 16” compatible rotor (319mm) , Akibono pads, and SS braided lines ( all 6 lines) and the feel is awesome. From my fatigued pads to my seized rotor, the refresh was night and day. Truck stops great as is, and the lines are awesome AFTER taking some time to get used to them.

SS Lines: Initially I didn’t like it, but the pedal feel is firm and linear… you give it more, you get more.

Aside from using the larger 338mm rotor, your other only options are 5th Gen brakes or a Wilwood or StopTech big brake kit if you got coin to spend. All of which probably require a larger 17" rim.

I would keep it simple and do a full refresh using 319mm.

Hawk pads and stainless steel brake lines will make a huge difference in the pedal feel, while giving you better bite and improved stopping distances.
