Brakes

Hey! New here...

Picked up a '89 4runner about a year ago and it's time to do rear brakes.... Any suggestions on some good parts? It's pretty rusty back there.

I'd suggest getting the whole hardware kit with all the springs etc. rockauto.com or advanceauto.com has them for like $15.

You may want to get a new brake self adjuster if it's seized.

Take a look at the brake shoes when you buy them. Some shoes have more surface area than others. I bought a set once and the friction bad was about 1" shorter on each shoe than the ones that I was taking out. Raybestos is the one brand that seems to make good brakes.

I usually take one side apart at a time. That way you can always check to make sure you put the brakes back together right.
