Hey guys. So, I'm getting towards the end of the rebuild of my 96 SR5. For those who haven't seen it, the engine had a blown HG when I bought it. I sent the engine off to be rebuilt and I'm just waiting for the injectors to get back from cleaning.
My question is: Is there anyone out there with experience with break in oil? Is it necessary or is cheap-o dino oil sufficient? The engine builder recommended adding some zinc additive for the first start-up. I looked at "zinc additives" at Advance Auto and the manufacturer recommends not adding it to late model engines due to possible catalytic converter damage. What's the deal T4R? Thanks!
