Brake part costs?

2013 4Runnner Limited

The dealer is quoting me a parts price of 574.78 for all parts on all 4 wheels. I'm doing the brake job myself and would like genuine Toyota parts.

Is this price high and, if so, is there a source to purchase the same parts much cheaper?

Very high. You can get brakes from a parts store with lifetime warranties for a couple hundred. You can Google the OEM brakes or look in the vendor section.

Genuine Toyota parts cost way more than aftermarket parts, but for somethings it's worth it.
As long as you get good quality parts aftermarket brake parts should do fine.

$574? Does that include calipers? Why on earth are you replacing all four calipers on a 2013 truck?

Simply looking to stock the parts in the shop to have them on hand.

Is there a brand or specific after market parts that are of the same quality as the Toyota parts?

You need to do what you are most comfy with... I just replaced front brake pads and front rotors on my kids Honda Accord with an after market parts from the local parts store. I generally put the OEM equivalent they offer. I haven't thought twice about putting non-oem on his car and have used these type of brake pads for years. Are you buying more than just brake pads?? Like the previous poster, it sounds like that price would include more parts than just pads... that's a pretty new vehicle to need something more than pads.

Not doing any work yet. Simply looking to learn about parts and then purchase them to have in my garage for when I have to do it.

the only things you will need for the first few brake jobs are pads.

should be 200 max for a pair of front and a pair of rear pads.
