I have a 2010 4runner I bought new,
6 months ago, when the car was at 50000 miles (80000km) Toyota finally tells me i need new break pads, it was a good 50k run so I got them.
Past week, another 25000 miles, on my way back from a trip, I hear grinding noise on the highway while breaking, nothing really seems wrong, 200 miles later, lots of warning lights go off from Anti-slip to abs, I can't recall as the break paddle just fell in before recovering to stop the car. I was in a bit of a panic.
Lo and behold, the rear passenger side calipers have completely grinded against the rotors, killing themselves and the rotors. So what happened to the break pads, they fell off or done in 25k when the original lasted 50k. Did totoyota not put OEM break pads the second time. I wasn't even expecting this second set of pads to wear of in half the time.
I am just surprized what happened here.
Anyone else had similar faliure?
