Breakpads disappeared - callipers gone

Is there a possibility that the dealer only did the front brakes when they replaced it!! As those are the one that wear the most .

I just did both rear calipers with brackets, rear rotors, and pads on my 2011 this weekend. The driver side rear caliper was sticking. I knew it and put it off for another two weeks. That was two weeks too long as the pad ruined the rotor. Did the work myself and it was $284.03 in parts plus large container of brake fluid. Just did both sides as I had it apart anyways. The area I live in is really corrosive in the winter on vehicles. My 4Runner has 72,000 miles and has been through 5 winters so far.

The front four piston calipers are also known to stick on Tundras and 4Runners. I have those parts sitting on my bench waiting to be installed also. I have the drivers side front hanging up. I can tell by the pad wear. Tried to fix by polishing and hi-temp greasing the slide pin but it's the caliper. I don't find any great longevity advantage to the stock OEM parts but definitely agree they are of great quality (and exorbitant price). I will use them when they are competitive though. The winter salty roads around here just kills everything. Quality aftermarket brake calipers usually come with a lifetime warranty anyways.

I just did my rear brakes too, 67,000 miles. Metal to metal on the right rear and had to replace the rotor, just barely got the the left rear. Calipers were fine though, still had the factory lube on the pins.

Also is it worth it to actually go and get a smaller vehicle. I love my 4runner, few years back in a rather heavy snow (2ft or so), I was essentially pillaging the highway for other vehicles following behind me. Fell in love with the behemoth that day.

I would stick with a bicycle because they are much cheaper to own and maintain. Maybe a tricycle because they are easier to ride when drunk.

I just did front and rear pads last weekend on my 2010 at 66,000 miles. I probably had enough pad left for another 10K, but for $100 for OEM pads and an hours work, better safe than sorry. The job was one of the easiest brake jobs I've ever done.
