Brembo rotors

Hi all,

I have researched the whole Tundra brake upgrade topic to death. I know that people here are inclined to steer me in that direction. However I am looking at returning the pair of NAPA ultra premiums for Brembos. This is the 2nd pair of NAPA rotors to warp.

Does anyone here have any experience with running stock calipers and pads with the Brembo rotors? I do not have 300- 400 to drop on calipers, rotors and pads.

Brembo in my mind has always been a premium brand, and with 265/70/R16's i find that my brakes will stop my truck just fine, its only a little iffy when i have 1 ton of wood pellets in the truck and i need to make an abrupt stop, then things get interesting :D
 
I tried the EBC cross-drilled slotted racing rotors and pads on my 2002 Sport, they still warped after a couple of months, just not as bad. It's been a six year saga with the brakes in my 4runner.

Since I bought the wife a new car, the runner is now my toy and I'm gearing up for the Tundra mod to be done with it, hopefully. Just my 2 cts

Toytec ultimate lift finished today, ODL bumper on it's way, mud/snow tires in the works then the brakes. Mid-life crisis is rough on the credit card.:)
 
Ive had the Brembo rotors on for about a year and 12,000 miles. I'm very happy with them. They still fell like new. No warping at all. I have stock calipers and use performace fiction pads. The Brembos at tirerack.com are priced right. Get them.
 
I have NAPA getting them in tommorrow. Thanks for all the input. Should I do anything to bed them in?

I have had my Brembo's for ~ 2.5 years and they are now slightly warped. I am going in to get them turned / shaved next week.

Mine are drilled and slotted performance Brembos. I have considered the Tundra upgrade and if I could go back in time I might do it.

i used OEM toyota rotors when i did i swap. i still managed to warm them a little bit. during daily driving its BARELY noticeable, but get them hot and oh man my steering wheel will shake like crazy.
 
Gonna thread jack for a second but I'll be doing the brake upgrade in a little while and narrowed it down to the OEM rotors and the Brembo's (non-slotted or drilled version).

What would all recommend? Is there that much of a difference between the OEM and the Brembo's?

Too tired to research it for ya but check out BIGFISHALLDAY's DIY on his Tundra brake install. He shows how much more care was put into machining the OEM rotors vs the NAPA ones he bought initially.

I have used the Brembos with my 231s, and for 12,000 miles, I have been pleased with them. No warping. If you have deep pockets, and plan to keep the 4runner for years to come, I'd go with OEM.

That was one of the threads I was reading before posting up.
 
i have been running a set of summit racing, cross driller and slotted rotors, and have not had any problems, so i would imagine that running brembos would without a doubt be no problem, sure you will love them

same here, but you have to admit the drilled and slotted looks sick , lol, mine aren't warped yet but i try to drive in such a way where i'm not on my brakes as often because i know our brakes are weak, not saying i'm doing anything better then you or anyone else, just that i'm lucky so far!:roadkill:
 
I dont think the fact that they eventually warped had anything to do with the drilled, slotted.

during those two years I lived in santa cruz, ca (the mountains) and also did some trailering when I moved from norCal to San Diego.

I recently had the rotors shaved,and got new performance pads for $199 at local shop.

The rotors are fine now and still stop pretty quick.
