Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3

Guys, finally getting back into a 4Runner after a break. Took me a little bit to realize what I was missing! Anyways, I pick her up on Thusday and she will need new shoes. Not a big fan of the Dunlops they come stock with. On my past 4Runners, I had good success with the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo original. I know there were mixed reviews on the 2’s. Anyone see the Revo 3 or have any feedback. They look pretty good. Also had the original BFG KO’s but found them hard and lacked good wet traction. Thinking this would make a solid 3 season tire for mixed driving.

Well decided to give these a try based on previous experience. Going tomorrow to get them put on. Hope they are as good as advertised.

I did. :thumb3: The Revo’s E load are only 46lbs which is comparable to the BFG C load and 7 lbs lighter than the BFG E load. I”m putting them on TRD wheels, so the weight difference should be minimal when compared to stock.

Almost pulled trigger on em but went coopers at3s p285s , had cooper Lt atp but just to big of hit ! Anyway keep us updated on how they work out !

I’m impressed with how quiet they are. Handling in dry pavement very good and my mileage continues to go up so that’s a plus. Will report back after I get some miles on them or a little weather to test them out.

Revo 3s are hope are better than 2s

I'm on my 3rd set of Revos and have always liked them due to being just all around a good tire. But my current set of Revo twos is looking like it won't get to 40,000, when all the others got to at least 50K. I've read the compound on the Revo two was softer and people don't get the mileage like they did with the original. If you look on Tirerack.com you'll see the Revo ratings are basically last.

I hope this new formulation is better on the Revo 3s, but I don't know. Sadly I'm looking elsewhere this time - maybe a Geolander or the Cooper or possibly even a Kumho AT. (the Nitos, Gen. Grabbers & BFGs are too noisy on road I think & Michelin's too pricey)

It’s way to early to tell much, but I will say they are quiet and handled the sleet today really well. Only have about 300 miles on them so far, but so far I like them. I will only use them in the spring, summer and fall as I will swap to my original trail wheels with Blizzaks for winter. Having a good tire that handles wet conditions is important to me and so far so good with these. That was one of the reasons besides noise I ruled out the BFG KO’s 2. I’ve heard good things about the Coopers, but liked the look of these and my past history as well led me to try them. I will only put on 10-12,000 miles a year, so I’m sure I will replace in 3 seasons.

Not to derail this thread, but I just upgraded to the grabbers from the stock duelers, and I wouldn't say they're noisy, you can of course hear them when the radio is off, once it's on you can't hear any humming.

Back when I was a kid we didn't have car noises cuz we'd just put in a bigger set of speakers! :frog:

Yes, not sure I’ve ever seen sexy and tire in the same sentence before! It will be interesting to hear your experiences with the Geo’s and how they compare to your experiences with the older Revo’s. I’m super pleased with the 3’s in all conditions so far, but again time will tell on the wear. But boy are they quiet and smooth... even in an E. Good luck. Look forward to the pictures.

Getting the Geos Tuesday!

I called Discount Tire and ordered up a set of stock size Geolandar G015s to be installed Tuesday! The Revo's could go just a bit (3-4/32") more, but I doubt they'd even make it 40k miles. Since I'm not a kid any more, there's no need to run them out completely (we used to run tires until the air showed), as the safety factor decreases significantly under 5/32" I'm told.

Plus I'll be taking advantage of the April Yokahama $60 rebate! :dancin:

Too bad the Revo 2s wore down so poorly. But who knows - maybe in a few years when the Geos are done for, and if people like the Revo 3s, maybe I'll go back . . .

Still can't find much real-world off-road experience with these Revos (I'll be 90% on, 10% off road with them). The stock size as you note is an E load, but worth a shot given it's only 46lbs. The price is a bit brutal though.

So as noted earlier, I've run Revos about the whole time with this 4Runner, which has been about 150k miles worth (3 sets of them). I thought they were the best in numerous situations I found myself in (snow, backroads, Colorado mountain roads at 12,000 feet, etc.), plus they were an awesome daily driver (especially when it rained on occasion in the desert). The tire was actually somewhat legendary on this forum, and my deputy sheriff rescue squad neighbor extolled their virtues on all their offroad rescue SUVs. The thing that caused me - and a legion of others - to go away from them was the poor mileage on the Revo 2 version.

So far, tire rack is listing the Revo 3 as excellent in many categories, but the mileage rating is just "good." That concerns me . . . definitely not enough data yet to see if Bridgestone has corrected the issue.

Interesting. It seems counter-intuitive that they would have reduced mileage given their relatively light weight for an AT and their more street-oriented tread vs KO2, AT3, etc.

By "mileage" I mean durability - miles driven. (not MPG) Revo 2s didn't last as long as well as Revo 1s.

I’m still very pleased with them. Have 9700 miles on my set and they still look like new. Ride smooth and very good traction in the rain and last nights slick roads. In my opinion, definitely the best Revo Bridgestone has put out so far. To TeryT’s point, we don’t know yet on how long they will last, but my wear has been minimal. Based on what I’m seeing so far, there is no question I would buy them again.

I am glad to hear that you really like them and think they are the best so far. If they wear well, I would certainly consider going back to the Revo.

The Geolandar GO15s I just put on are a fine tire, and are snow rated (for some reason the new Revo didn't get the "snowflake" symbol . . .), but they are a little more towards pavement driving. The old Revos never failed in fairly aggressive offroad, and were actually awesome in the snow (again - why no official snow rating!?)!
