Bridgestone Revo's - Woo woo sound

My tires have about 23,000miles on them and the woo woo sound is increasingly noticable, the type of sound you hear when a wrangler with oversized mud tires drives by. They are the stock size.

On closer inspection the innermost tread of both rear wheels have different shades of black, one light, one dark. Additionally the wear on that tread is uneven, the leading edge of each tread block is raised and the trailing edge lower.

Is it likely that this is the cause of the sound, and what is causing the uneven wear?. I think I have already rotated these tires once or twice, but should I rotate them on the rim?

This is normal, try rotating so they spin the other direction. REVO's are not directional. I rotated mine in an X and they were always quiet.

My Revo's make the same sound at high speeds, I hope its the tires anyways. Im going to rotate them and see if that fixes it.

I've not had the noise -- at least not that I've noticed. I agree with CJ3Flyr -- rotate in an X pattern. If you bought 5 and replaced the spare, doing a 5-tire X pattern is even better.

I rotate frequently and honestly don't bother with the spare and rotate front to back , have 45K on Revos , can't ask for anything more has worked well for me.

Well engineered tires have a tread that is staggered and never an evenly spaced pattern.

--..--..--..-- will cause that resonance.

-...--.-.---.-. won't and will work just as well.

Just looking at the tires it's tough to tell which ones have it sometimes but the sale literature will detail it.

Pure off road tires typically never have this feature as the manufacturer assumes on road quality isn't relevant to the buyer.
