I would recommend PIAA XTREME WHITE PLUS they are really the best bulbs have them in my 4runner's headlights and hella 500 drivers they are really nice they give a nice very white beam

My HIR bulbs in the high beams are very bright, but not that white. I have HID's for the low beams and the color difference is a lot.

I have HIDs for my low beams as well, but the high beams (stock) are pretty pathetic. Where did you get your HIRs?

Sylvania SilverStar Ultras (4100K) for the headlights and Hella Extreme Yellow (2500K) for the fogs.

I tried 5000K headlights and I couldn't see chit under dark and wet or dark and foggy conditions. Plus, under those conditions, the Hella's provided some kick-azz contrast.

After searching, I found that the stock bulb for a 2005 headlight is a 9006 bulb. Will this work for 03-05 or is it 06+ only?

not to sound like a jerk but you didnt search enough, the HIRs are for 03-05, the H9 swap is for 06+. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/69166-high-intensity-infrared-hir-bulb-install.html on a side note, the stock low beam bulbs have a cap on them, the hirs & h9 are brighter, have no cap & throw light farther & wider down the road. basically a high beam bulb in a low beam spot, so you might want to aim the headlights down a bit. hir & h9 also dont last as many hrs. compared to a regular low beam bulb, some say the same for the plus bulbs, so that may be something to consider. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headlamp

dont let that throw you off, if more light is needed, the hirs & plus bulbs have higher lumens & are a great upgrade, but also cost more $.

$25 or so with shipping is a deal to me... However, amazon says it's a no-go for fitment. I'm failing somewhere. Any ideas?

that link says the 9012 doesnt fit because its not a direct fit, the bulb needs to be modified to fit your 9006 spot. so u need to do this. u dont have to use a dremmel. snips or wire clipprs work also. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/69166-high-intensity-infrared-hir-bulb-install.html
