brocken panhard bar mount

Hi all,

I started to notice that the rear end was 'squirly' when driving over bumps. I found that panhard bar mount on the rear axle is completely rusted through. The panhard bar is hanging by a bungee cord. It doesnt look like welding it would be an option due to the lack of material.

I was wondering what the forum members would suggest as a permenant fix. I am very concerned as you may understand and dont have a clue how to fix this....please help!!

Is there a replacement brack piece that could be welded on to the axle?
Will the whole axle need to be replaced?
any estimate of cost etc.

Unless the axle tube is rusted through it sounds repairable. If you were local to me I could fix it for a couple hundred. Any competent fab should will be able to take care of it properly.

My guess would be weld a plate onto the surface and then weld a new bracket to the plate.
