I thought it was pretty cool. Too bad I was suppose to get an oil change at 175000. I thought it was cool that my friend noticed it was we were pulling into his house. Heres a pic of the odo I took with my phone.

It's a Toyota, so it'll keep on going and going and going.... :D

Kudos for having a well kept truck. I hope mine will see that on its clock.

What's the big deal??? You just past the break-in period.:D

Congrats. Those 3rd gens sure are reliable.

Heck, at the rate I'm going, by the time MY 4Runner is 9 years old, it will have 225k miles on it....

Already almost up to 76k on an '03.

Any major problems with the truck? Hows it running? Jusdt trying to see what i will expect in the next 100K miles. I just turned 78K last week.

Well that's good because I only have 64 k miles on mine and that means you can do the timing belt first and then tell us how to do it :bigok:

So far I dont think we've really had any problems except for a leak on something. I cant remember. It was a couple hundred to fix, like 5 or 6 hundred at a local place versus like 2 grand at the dealership. Other than that it is running great. Everyones suprised when they get in the car and realize it has 2-4 times as much milage as theirs.

For the most part, I do my own work on vehicles, however after reading the service manual and seeing all that's involved, I think I'll take advantage of my local dealership's summer sales where they advertise "V8 timing belt replacement $289..." For that price, it's not really worth my effort to do it myself based on the amount of stuff you have to remove just to get to the belt.

Most likely I'll be around the 90-95k mark around this time next summer so I'll probably just take it in at that point and have everything done; timing belt, water pump, tensioner(s), coolant flush, etc....

Just have them do it all while they're in there as preventive.

I did some research on this and this is what I found:

Removing the crankshaft nut is the most difficult task

Parts:
Timing belt $ 40
Timing belt tensioner $ 39
Timing belt idler $ 40
Timing cover seal $ 4
Water pump $ 103
Coolant $ 15
Subtotal $ 241

Other parts that some feel is necessary
Camshaft seal $ 16
Crankshaft seals $ 20
Serpentine belt $ 27
Thermostat $ 12
Subtotal $ 75

Labor is around 5.5 hours at the dealership, but I would think that it would take at least a full day for a DIYer with common tools and a couple trips to the store for things that you forgot.

Therefore depending on what you replace and estimating $ 65/hour for labor it will run between $ 600 to 700 USD

The problem is the price is too low for everything listed above from what others have told me. They have spent $ 1,000 for the full Monty. I must have missed some items or underestimated labor.
