broke down, need help! alternator died on trip

BroKe Down On Trip. No Tools With Me. Can Someone Give Advive On What Tools Ill Need To Buy To Replace Alternator. Any Tips Would Be Appreciated! Sorry, On Cell Trying To Post.

How do you know the Alternator has failed, is the battery still usable? Luckily for you the alternator is a bit easier to get to on a 4.0L vs. the V8, but its still going to be a bit of work to get off.

Not sure if you can do it on the road, but you could give it a shot... Will see if I can find the FSM and post it for you.

While Blackworks is finding you the FSM, do you happen to be close enough to where ever you are headed to buy a fresh battery and drive it there? Not sure how long it will last you on the 4runner, but I remember that on my old dad's old accord I could drive ~1-2hr with a dead alternator and a fresh battery. That's exactly what we did to get him home, I brought him a fresh battery to where he broke down. Good luck to you, and I hope you have a safe trip!
