Broke in the new 4Runner today at lunch....

Got blasted on Buford Hwy in Atlanta for going 67 in a 45 zone. It is a notorious speed trap & I just was not paying attention. the sad thing is that I was actually going slower than some of the other cars on the road. just dumb luck that he picked me out.

6 days old. 62 miles on the truck. And she is already a wanted outlaw!

Yeah, that was my wife's first reaction when I called her & told her I broke in the truck at lunch. She freaked out thinking I had wrecked it & was actually relieved when I told her I got a ticket. I need to keep that in mind for the future!

The funny thing is that in the 5+ years I have lived in Atlanta, this is my first ticket. By the law of averages, I guess I am doing pretty good.

I actually asked the cop if I was REALLY going 67 (as if he would say no) since I have been consciously trying to keep it under 50 while I try to break the engine in right.

Buford Hwy? That's Korean town ain't it.

Everytime I visit my parents in Chattanooga, my mom has me drive down there to load up on Korean cabbage and stuff from one of those Korean supper markets.

Atlanta is a fine town...just wish you guys do something about that traffic situation...at times, its worse that driving in LA.

Actually, the part I was driving on was little Mexico. Buford Hwy is like International Blvd. A 5 mile stretch is all hispanic with spanish signs, billboards, businesses, etc. Then you get into Korea for a few miles & it is the same thing...only in Korean. Then Vietnam. Then China. Then you end up back in Mexico for some reason!

You can always use that excuse in court. Just tell them that it is a new car and you couldn't have been going over 50-55 mph because you believe in breaking in a new vehicle properly. It probably won't work but give it a try!

The cops always look for the "showy" vehicles to stop. I think any 4Runner will stick out in the eyes of a cop. These trucks just have a unique look! I bet if you were driving a Toyota sedan, you would have just blended in with the crowd.

Look out now. Looks like the cops are paying attention to our new 4Runner zigzaging around here in Atl. Not my fault, blame Toyota making such a great truck I travel thru Buford Hwy on daily basis. Doraville PD are sneaky on their trap tactics. They will sit on just the down slope of a hill section on Hwy 141 then stop unsuspect driver which is illegal in GA. If someone went to court with <a href="http://www.legis.state.ga.us/cgi-bin/gl_codes_detail.pl?code=40-14-1">
these GA traffic codes</a>, and found the officer actually did not follow these codes. Your case will be dismissed. And slow down next time you see a marked patrol car to avoid future hassle.

funny you post this I just got my first ticket in 10 year! yesterday I was getting off work it was rush hour. I drop my cell phone on the flood look down real fast to pick it up and the next thing I saw was the light turn yellow about 50 feet in front of me and I was going about 57 in a 60mph zone so I knew i was not going to stop in time so I floor it and the next time I see in my rear view mirror was blue light grrrr! dame skinny young punk azz state trooper:bash: got me for TWO traffic citation 1st for failure to stop at red light an 2th was failure to obtain operators.(left my licence at home F#$% of all days!)then he was going to give me another ticket for my indash DVD monitor! telling me it was illegal to have one of those in the front? wtf ! I was listening to a cd! and I keep telling him the DVD dont work when it in drive so how can I be watching TV? their was no picture on the screen just the display!basely he's saying i was watching tv while driving?? lol Lucky he did not have his radar on or I would have gotten a speeding ticket too! good day gone bad. now I got to pay $168 for both citation. baster ruin by perfect driving record!:xnuts: :cannon:

I've been pulled over with my 30 day tags still on the ride and I said, "Officer, I didn't realize how fast I was going. These New Toyotas are just soooo quiet."


It worked. Iowa cop revised it to a non-moving 10 MPH over on the highway.
