Do you happen to know what the resistance of the factory harness is meant to be? You advise against using coax cable, what kind of cable would you recommend? I've been looking for "abs wire" but cant seem to find anything except preexisting harnesses.
Most of the time when it comes to harnesses in the vehicle manufacturers will specify "under 1 ohm of resistance." In the real world that can be closer to 1-2 ohms, length of the circuit can play a part of that as well as age. But generally as long as you're close to 1 ohm or less you should be fine. Shielding is done in areas where the manufacturer feels that the circuit could be affected by outside frequencies/inductive kick.
As for testing the sensors themselves, that's always a good idea, I forget the spec for our vehicles; but will try and remember to look it up this weekend.
